Men Of The Afar Tribe in Ethiopia

Ethiopia house a total of almost 80 tribes with 46 in the omo valley, Ethiopians are know for their beautiful culture and cultural dress sense.

The Afar ethnic group in Ethiopia is a case study in this article.

The afar ethnic group is located in the horn of Africa, Eritrea, Djibouti in Afar Ethiopia, they are known to be the most toughest people in the world.

For centuries they live in a place called the magma Chamber, this place is known to be very hot as the name signifies, cause they constantly witnesses volcanic eruptions.

From history the afar people have existed since the 13th century and one very unique thing that caught my attention was their hairstyle which made them unique and different from all other tribes in Africa.

The hair is styled and butter is applied to the hair to keep it coiled and neat. They use cow loads and butter and the use of sticks to obtain the curls in the hair which is protected from heat radiated by the sun to keep it in shape.

And guess who sport the hairdo?

The men!! While women of the Afar tribe simply braid their hair all back.

This tradition have got the whole world emulating and copying this hairdo.
