Boko haram insurgency in west Africa

Over the past decades, different forms of domestic and international terrorism in which Boko haram has been one of the Hardest Hit in west Africa.

The sect was founded by Mohammed Yusuf became known as Boko Haram in 2002 in Maiduguri, the capital of the north-eastern state of Borno

The militant Islamic group popularly called "Boko Haram" has caused a lot of Havoc in the most populous black Nation "Nigeria" and west Africa at large, through bombings of schools, churches, mosques, markets and any place of social gathering also assassinations and abductions of individuals, the Islamic group is fighting hard to overthrow the government and create an Islamic state.

The Boko haram insurgency all began in 2009 when the jihadist group  started an armed war battle against the government of Nigeria, The Boko Haram sect started with massive attacks on security formations. they later graduated to offensives attack on Christian churches, Mosques, schools and other public places.

This sect attacked borders and penetrated nations on close to the Nigerian borders and also caused havoc by killing, destroying properties and also abduction humans.

The president of Nigeria on May 2013 declared a state of emergency in the following states of Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa due to insurgency's happening in these region.

On the night of 14–15 April 2014, Boko haram sect Abducted 276 female chibok girls students were kidnapped from a Secondary School in a small town of Chibok in Borno State, Nigeria. This kidnap shocked the world which brought about a global awareness of this destructive sect, this brought about the #bringbackourgirls campaign which went viral.

The Nigerian military in January 2016 reported to have freed 1,000 women held captive by Boko Haram in which 15 was said to be the kidnapped chibok girls

UNICEF released a report in 2018, claiming that more than 1,000 children have been kidnapped by Boko Haram since 2013

Boko haram rendered a lot of people homeless now living in IDP camps with little or nothing to eat and also not enough needs for human wants.

Boko haram is a threat to National and international growth and development, lives have been lost, properties has been destroyed and the nation is not at peace because this sect could penetrate into any part of west Africa if not Handled on TIME
