Greco was on the roof.
"Daddy!!" Penelope's voice pierced through the moonlit night. Mavis perked up out of her hopelessness.
Boris had them tied on opposite sides of the crane.
Greco allowed the timer to leave his hand. There was enough weight on his shoulders already. He hobbled as fast as he could. Heart pounding his insides sore. Lump clinging tightly to his throat.
"Hold on I'm going to get you off of there!!" He dished out his last ounces of courage to comfort them.
"Daddy!! Daddy!!" Penelope's shrieks cut through his heart like cheese. She was watching the timer countdown. She knew what it meant. Boris strapped it there to serve that very purpose.
"Charles! Free our daughter. Free her first!" Mavis' motherly instinct burst through. She cared not for her life. Only Penelope mattered.
Greco's mind was made up. He wrestled with the chords Boris had bundled around her. As they run he kept looking back at what they had chosen to leave behind. There was nothing he could do...

Sirens were the last thing Greco heard.
ONE YEAR LATER.
"It's beautiful. Now, she will always be here with us." He said as he caressed her.
"We're going to name her Penelope" Greco continued.
Mavis nodded in agreement...
