I grew up in Croatia, spent my whole life and met various classes of society and that was enough to get a picture of the Croatian people. If you have ever met a Croat, a true Croat who loves his homeland, pride and joy emanate from him when he talks about Croatia. When Croats leave Croatia in the hope of a better future, they do not forget who they are, where they come from and what kind of history they have behind them, the history of their family and even the entire Croatian people and the Croatian state.
We have a great love for Croatia, wherever we are, we try to spread a nice word about us, our country and our history. I keep mentioning history because that is one of the reasons why Croats are leaving their homeland. Namely, Croats have a glorious and enviable warrior history, centuries of struggle for freedom and almost a whole millennium of waiting for the creation of the Croatian state.
How can such a famous history be the reason for leaving Croatia?
Precisely because of the glorious and seemingly impossible victories in various battles across Europe, the Croats still have that warrior spirit, and it is this pride that radiates from us, it is this pride because of which we cannot accept that in the Croatian state that we have been waiting for so long, the main word is not led by Croats who feel that pride, but by those who stifle that pride and wish it never existed.
It is a great pain in our heart, and we simply want to escape from it, because we do not have the strength to look at it with our own eyes every day, to watch a brave Croatian warrior stand up for his homeland not so long ago, while today he suffers and is silent under oppression. Only this time it is not the stranger who oppresses him, but the domestic traitors.
How to avoid a heated argument with us?
If you ever enter into a conversation with a Croat, I would recommend that you stay away from political topics, do not call Croatia only "one part of the former Yugoslavia", because Croats never wanted to be part of that communist creation, which was imposed on Croats as a kind of community, but in reality the Croatian national pride was suppressed, our history and its very existence as a nation was denied.
