Toxicity is the amount of a poison that under a specific set Of condition causes toxic effects or results in determinal biological changes.Toxicity is usually expressed as milligram f toxican per kilogram body weight that will produce a defined biological effect.

The amount of toxicant per unit of body weight is dosage.

Routs of toxicity:

• Ingestion:

  The toxin is taken in the body by the oral rout eating, drinking. The toxins is enter the blood stream through walls of the gastrointestinal tract.

• Inhalation:

  Many toxins ,as a gas or aerosol,are inhaled and enter the blood through the lungs.

• Dermal/topical:

  The toxins enters through the skin and moves into the blood stream. Epidermal largely limits absorption .pecticides like Malathion and parathion have caused death in agriculture workers due to percutaneous absorption.

• Parenteral administration:

  The entery of the chemical is by injection ,intravenous iv, intraperitoneal IP,or intramuscular im . Toxiy enter directly in the blood stream in the intravenous administration,and take slightly more time in the IP case.
