The epic Alim of Ifugao tells of a time when land is abundant. Even rivers and seas abound fish. Forests are a lot of animals that are easy catch up. People have no problem with food. They love eat, they do nothing but cut bamboo shoots and the rice is here to be sown.
The bamboo leg is the same rivalry. In the past, the world was flat except for two mountains: the Mount of Olives and the Mount of Heaven. The time came when there was no rain. These are dry river. People died. Several remaining people dug the river. Ang water is boiling.
The people were delighted and they celebrated. However heavy rain poured down, rivers overflowed. Increased the water rose. People ran into two mountains however the flood had overtaken them as well. Everyone drowned except siblings Bugan and Wigan. As the flood came down, Bugan set fire to the mountain Kalawitan. Wigan saw it at his mountaintop location Amuyaw. Wigan goes to Bugan.
They found out about both only the surviving siblings of the world. Wigan built a house that they lived with Bugan. After some time, Bugan was pregnant. Out of sheer embarrassment Bugan tried to commit suicide. An old man stopped him. It is a deity of the Ifugaos, si Food. Makanungan married Wigan and Bugan. They had of nine children, five boys and four girls.
When they arrived at adult, four men are married to four women. Ang youngest son Igon is left unmarried. They lived prosperous. After some time, they experienced drought. They don't ani. Wigan and Bugan remembered Makanungan. They call here and they offered a rat offering. The drought is still ongoing. Thought of they killed Igon and offered him at Bathala. Finished the speech and dryness. But Makanungan was angry with their killing and sacrifice of Igon's life.
He cursed the children of Wigan and Bugan. He said the brothers would split up - south, north, west, east. When they meet, they will quarrel and be killed. So these tribes of people in the mountains, now it is fighting and killing.
