Web 3.0 Doesn't Necessarily Mean Decentralization and Cryptos
People think that Web 3.0 means decentralization!
Neither Web 3.0 is synonymous with decentralization.
Nor Web 3.0 is about cryptocurrencies, distributed ledgers, and blockchain.
Web 3.0 doesn't necessarily imply the tokenization of assets.
Web 3.0 doesn't need to be implemented in a trustless way.
Web 3.0 is not required to be permissionless.
I read short prescriptions about Web 1.0, Web 2.0, and Web 3.0.
The Internet available during the 1990s to early 2000s may be considered as Web 1.0.
It means the early days of the Internet.
Web 1.0 may be characterized as static HTML pages, simple navigation, and limited user interaction.
It includes limited content, text blogs, and very little graphical content.
Examples of Web 1.0 elements were limited to websites, online manuals, and electronic brochures.
The Internet of the mid 2000s onwards may be called Web 2.0.
It is the developing days of the Internet.
Web 2.0 may be characterized as dynamic content-based web pages, social media interaction and collaboration, and interactive user experiences.
It is associated with massive content creation, including text blogs, wiki documents, videos, and multimedia.
Examples of Web 2.0 are social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, etc.), collaborative document creation (Wikipedia), blogging (texts), and vlogging (videos).
The Internet of Web 3.0 is upcoming since the start of the 2020s.
Web 3.0 is focused on computational intelligence, called artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), linked to data and information.
The contents of Web 3.0 extensively associate generative AI and ML
The applications of Web 3.0 often associate distributed ledger technologies, blockchain, and decentralization.
Web 3.0 is still under development and is not yet final.
Examples of Web 3.0 are AI-driven content creation, automation, personalization, and decentralized use cases, such as cryptocurrencies and decentralized finance.
Conclusion
Web 1.0 was all about accessing information via the new Internet.
Web 2.0 introduced active interaction and collaboration among users of the Internet.
Web 3.0 has been aiming to associate data and interaction more intelligently with the help of advanced technologies.
Web 3.0 is still under development and is not yet final.
