Photons Matter Even Being Massless
Light is a fantastic form of energy.
Light from the Sun is the primary source of energy transferred continually to every element of the solar system.
Photon is the unit of energy that illuminates physical particles.
Every object reflects a part of the illuminating light and absorbs a part.
Fully reflecting mirrors can reflect almost 96 percent of the illuminating light energy and absorb/transmit only about 4 percent.
All animals can't see (sense) all wavelengths of light.
Some animals have eyes that have sensors that can detect light.
The eye sensors of animals can't sense all the bandwidth of light waves.
Human eyes can sense the wavelength between 400 - 700 nanometers which is called the visible band.
Birds can sense both visible as well as a narrow ultra-violet band.
Mantis Shrimp can sense in different bands, including visible and infrared.
The eye sensors of the mantis shrimp can dynamically customize the wavelength sensitivity of their eye sensors as per their requirements.
Human eye color sensitivity varies from person to person.
Color sensing capability among humans may vary from person to person!
Color sensing capabilities of women are superior to that of men.
The superior color sensitivity of women's eyes is probably the reason they take a much longer time to select dress colors in a dress shop.
Some humans have much different (or abnormal) color sensitivity and detect colors abruptly different from many others (say, green as red or vice versa).
We call them "color blind," although nothing is abnormal. They only have a different color sensitivity in their eye sensors.
Optics and photonics are beautiful subjects.
Last three days, I attended a conference in optics and photonics.
I reconnected with past acquaintances from academia and the R&D community.
I remember my mentor Prof. Manoranjan De who inspired me to do my doctoral research in optical signal processing.
I remember our past research in artificial color perception, which I did in collaboration with the celebrated American Physicist late Prof. H. John Caulfield.
I may have to extend that research and explore more.

About me
I am a researcher and contribute to the overlapping areas of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics). I am an active user and promoter of GNU/Linux, Free and Open Source Software. I develop cybersecurity and information security solutions, specifically graphical authentication security.
Cheers!
