Is Your Chat Peer-to-Peer and End-to-End Encrypted?
How frequently do you chat using the Internet?
"Please give your ID and let us have a quick video chat," told one of my clients who represents an IT firm in our locality.
She suggested I use a very popular video chatting platform.
I asked her - "Does this digital chatting platform peer-to-peer and support end-to-end encryption?"
I was stunned by her reply - "Not sure .. we are using it quite often. How does it matter if our video chat isn't peer-to-peer and end-to-end encrypted? Our company uses proprietary AI-enhanced cybersecurity tools ... "
I am very much dissatisfied with the answer of an IT staff of an IT company!

We often use default systems to chat in cyberspace.
Only a very few bother about data privacy while online communication.
How does it matter if our chat data aren't peer-to-peer and end-to-end encrypted?
Then the chatting platform can spy on our private chat data and may use/sell it to third parties or even to our competitor companies!
Hackers can steal our private communication data in transit. But end-to-end encryption enables the sender to send encrypted data that only an authorized receiver can decrypt.
If the chat is end-to-end encrypted, the hackers can't read/view the private communication data because the hackers don't have the decryption keys.
Peer-to-peer communication can restrict other entities from entering into it unless the creator of the chat permits others to enter/listen/view it.
Select the right digital communication platform that is secure and can preserve data privacy
There are plenty of digital communication platforms that support chatting and video conferencing.
Most digital communication platforms have hidden agendas to use/sell/harvest the private data of their users.
We must be careful to select the right platform for our personal and business communication.
Don't just blindly trust the privacy policy of the digital service providers.
Check whether the platform provides the right data privacy and security.
A chatting platform is a good one if the platform provides
(i) peer-to-peer chat,
(ii) end-to-end encryption, and
(iii) it has the option to chat hosted on your chat server.

Everybody does digital communication, such as text or video chatting over cyberspace.
