Is Functioning of the Judiciary Honest and Effective?
Is Functioning of the Judiciary Honest and Effective?
Today, the Supreme Court of India heard the R. G. Kar doctor's death case so casually that it seemed that the highest court of the country hears cases as a hobby!
With due respect to the SC and all its stakeholders, I'm sorry for my remarks!
It is disheartening how casually the judiciary and lawyers function in providing justice to citizens!
The Chief Justice of India (CJI) announced in the morning that they would hear the R. G. Kar case at around 2 PM.
The R. G. Kar case was 42nd on today's hearing list, but the CJI's court heard other cases up to number 61, keeping the hearing of the R. G. Kar case pending until the end!
Finally, they decided to start the R. R. Kar case around 4 PM. By then, the central government's lawyer, solicitor general Tushar Mehta, and the CBI lawyer had gotten tired and requested the CJI to postpone the hearing until tomorrow or Thursday!
Will the R. G. Kar Medical College and Hospital Victim Get Justice?
In today's SC hearing, every participant, including the justices and lawyers, could have performed better than mediocre and been more effective in delivering their respective roles.
The performances of the three lawyers, Indira Jaising, Karuna Nundy, and Vrinda Grover, in supporting their respective clients were mediocre!
The solicitor general, Tushar Mehta, was equally weak in presenting the CBI's position in the investigation!
Earlier, many senior reporters mentioned good words about all the lawyers directly and indirectly supporting the victim's case.
I am not impressed with the trio's performance, Indira Jaising, Karuna Nundy, and Vrida Grover, or with that of the solicitor general, Tushar Mehta.
Will the CBI Honestly Expedite the Investigation?
The CJI's taking the R. G. Kar death case as a suo moto cognizance is very fishy.
What will the fate of the R. G. Kar case be after the CJI Chandrachud retires in November 2024?
The last hope remains with the CBI and its impartial and effective investigation.
The CBI must take the R. G. Kar case as an opportunity to clean up its past bad image and brighten its role as India's top investigation agency.
The parents of the victim, junior and senior doctors, and the people who have been protesting on the streets have to keep the pressure on the CBI to expedite the investigation.
As a part of the common mass, we will continue supporting the doctors' movement against the corrupt WB government.
