Deepfake Face Swap Attack is a Warning
Buzzwords like AI and ML are too much popular now.
AI-generative tools like ChatGPT are among the top hype households enjoy discussing and using.
People just like AI like a hot pizza!
Is AI delicious (I mean safe) to consume for day-to-day applications?
I am curious how people go after an untested technology for many real-world applications, including medical, surgical, health, education, entertainment, advertisement, sales and marketing, and whatnot.
Deepfake services are readily available for testing.
Deepfake services are readily available on the web.
Run an Internet search with the keyword "Deepfake" and check how many search results you get and how many are on "free deepfake" services.
The human-hazardous deepfake apps (report speaks) are also readily available over the dark web for a small amount of money.
When we read the news on deepfake hacks, we feel vulnerable.
But people are still adopting AI for anything and everything without asking any questions.
If a popular platform announces an AI feature, users jump at the chance to adopt it.
What about Deepfake face swap?
Run an Internet search with the phrase "Deepfake face swap" or just "faceswap" and check what results come.
Innumerable results appear on "Deepfake" and "face swap."
You will be amazed to find so many free service websites in search results.
One can use the free "Deepfake" and "face swap" services to synthesize real-like artificial face images of a real human being.
In the first week of February 2024, the news headline was on Deepfake face swap attacks on ID verification systems!

The news reports that the Deepfake-based face swap attacks on facial ID verification systems rose by 704% in 2023!
In February 2020, the identity verification company Clearview suffered severe data breach attacks, leaking their entire customer list and the number of user accounts, etc., with Clearview AI facial recognition service.
Microsoft hits the news headline for AI's fake image of Taylor Swift.
Another news hit the headlines that reported the faking of celebrity Taylor Swift with photorealistic graphical content on the Internet.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is reported to have commented on the incident as "alarming and terrible," telling interviewer Lester Holt, "I think it behooves us to move fast on this."
Nobody knows how MS will mitigate such terrible AI-faking incidents with their ambitious AI projects.
What are your comments about the AI and Deepfake vulnerabilities?
People's reactions were mixed when I asked questions about the hazards of AI and Deepfake to privacy and security.
Most people would say, "There are problems, but new technologies should be tried."
They often said, "Didn't people oppose using computers initially?"
The problems with AI and Deepfake are rising fast.
I am skeptical about adopting AI for any real-world application.
That concerns both data security as well as data privacy.

It looks like we're going to need a different identity verification process. Using an ID with a face alone it's not secure. There has to be more layers involved. Maybe sending of a Bitcoin crypto message from a verified address. Like sending a couple pennies to a bank account to verify it. There's an extreme lack of knowledge, regarding how to keep information safe.
