Computing is Today's Paradigm

We used to learn mathematics and then physics in school.

Earlier, this was the usual path of thinking behind learning.

  • People used to figure out modern physics and engineering through mathematical elaborations.

Now, we are starting to see a paradigm shift.

Today's teachers ask the question: Should they teach physics before mathematics? Would that help in the learning process?

We should also teach computation from the very beginning of school education. Computation is becoming the paradigm of today's world.

Learning by practice is the surest way.

  • We can learn by practice. That remains the surest approach.

  • How else do we know how water flows through the capillary tubes?

  • Can we teach simple harmonic motion without a pendulum?

  • Can we teach Ohm's law without lighting a lamp with a series of electrical cells?

Our teachers had no choice but to perform these experiments on us, the students.

But today's teachers have a handful of computer programs that show all these things even before going to a science lab.

Computer simulations can make learning easy and fun.

  • Today's teachers can teach many complex scientific concepts without using a lab.

  • The concepts taught using computational simulations make it easy for the students to grasp the idea before going to the lab.

  • The simulation labs complement the experimental lab and help improve understanding of complicated scientific concepts and phenomena.

The foundation of science can be inducted to the students' mind with fun with computer simulations.

  • Computation is a handy tool for today's teachers.

  • Computer simulation is a new digital learning tool.

The paradigm of computers is making teaching and learning in the domains of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) more informative and entertaining.

Computers and computation have become integral parts of our lives.

  • Computation with computing machines has changed our lives forever.

  • Computers have spontaneously become integral parts of our modern lives.

  • We have adopted computers for almost everything - learning, earning, entertainment, and living. We should be careful in its use.

The computers shouldn't rule our lives but we the humans should rule the computers.

That is a reminder but not a warning.

I am sure the future will be more pleasant and smooth, yet more natural, without any harmful computer controls.

For that reason, we humans should be just a little more careful.

Computing is today's paradigm.

  • Computers and computation are the new paradigms of today's world.

Humans must be more responsible and careful when using computers.

  • For example, one must decide carefully where to use AI and where not to.

Mathematica is "a modern technical computing system spanning most areas of technical computing—including neural networks, machine learning, image processing, geometry, data science, visualizations, and others."
