Can Credential Free Login Work?
Nowadays, there is a craze for killing passwords.
If you regularly follow cybersecurity trends, you might have noticed the word "password-less."
Password-less means your account is always logged in using credentials already saved on a device, such as a smartphone or other computer.
Killing passwords has been an effort that started long ago.
The master of everything, and so-called philanthropist, who owns a major share in Microsoft as a co-founder, gave a call to kill passwords as early as 2003.
The craze started but the people and the banking sector hesitated to adopt the password-less feature.
There are valid reasons behind using text passwords/PINs as the default authentication factor by banks worldwide.
But, password-less authentication still requires at least one credential, i.e., the user name or ID of the account holder.
Can credential-free Login work?
As I mentioned in the last sentence in traditional or so-called password-less authentication, one requires one credential, that is the ID of the account.
The question is whether a credential-free authentication works.
Recently I came to know about a new authentication system that doesn't require any credentials to log in.
What does it mean?
It means that a user will not be required to enter the account name or ID to log in.
The user also doesn't need any associated password credentials to enter.
Instead, the machine will generate dynamic and random number-based authentication keys.
For every login, there will be a new random key.
I understand the idea is not very clear.
My upcoming podcast - Credential Free Digital Identity.
Coming Tuesday, October 10, 2023, I will discuss one such unique authentication system that doesn't require any credentials to be remembered and entered during logging into a system.

This idea is really ambiguous. Like I am thinking there can be privacy invasion in it. But still in login system we have login numbers aren't we have?
