Steve Jobs and Bill Gates have known each other for a long time. They met in the late 1970s and were like-minded tech enthusiasts who continued to cross over for decades. Steve Jobs, famous for his eccentricity, and Bill Gates, one of the richest and most successful entrepreneurs in the world, started out relatively friendly.

However, because their interests and products were in direct competition, they became competitors. The relationship between Steve Jobs and Bill Gates took electronics and technology to a new level in the late 1900s and early 2000s.

5. Jobs Let The IBM Debacle Go So They Could Work Together On The Macintosh :

Following the successful Apple I, Apple II and Apple IIe computers, they launched the Apple Macintosh in 1984.

In addition to celebrity advertisements for Super Bowl products, Bill Gates also appeared in advertisements. The two computer geniuses seemed innovated and ready to tackle the world of technology together.

4. Gates's Relationship With IBM Made Jobs Think He Was Ripping Off Apple :

Gates and Microsoft continued to work with IBM while Apple was preparing the Macintosh for regular use. The angry Jobs feared that Microsoft would steal the graphical interface from Macintosh technology and use it for his own purposes. He had the right to worry and Angey on Gates when he learned about Microsoft Windows in 1983. Gates hindered Jobs by developing software for IBM that uses graphics in the way Jobs intended and worked. Gates shouts "You're stealing us!" in California and Gates's "Team Show". He screamed. "I trusted you and now you are stealing from us!".

3. Gates Wasn't Impressed With Apple Or Jobs :

After the deal, Gates went to Cupertino, California, where Apple was based and presented his software to Jobs and others. Gates didn't think Apple's computer features, especially the graphics Jobs used, were all inspiring, and he didn't like the way Steve Jobs treated him. Gates recalled that “It was kind of a weird seduction visit where Steve was saying we don’t really need you and we’re doing this great thing, and it’s under the cover. He’s in his Steve Jobs sales mode, but kind of the sales mode that also says, ‘I don’t need you, but I might let you be involved.’”

2. The Two Met In The Late 1970s And Started To Work Together :

Jobs and Wozniak were interested in using Gates computer software when developing Apple computers. They met in the late 1970s, and in the early 1980s, Jobs approached Gates to create a programming language for Apple computers. Gates signed a contract with IBM, the leading computer manufacturer at the time.

Jobs traveled to Seattle, where Gates is located, and signed a software development contract with Microsoft for Apple. Gates combines a spreadsheet program (Excel), a word processing program (Word) and an easy-to-use programming language, BASIC.

1. Jobs And Gates Founded Their Companies One Year Apart :

Raised by California's adoptive parents (Paul and Clara), Steve Jobs became interested in electronics from an early age and spoke with cars in the family garage. He met Steve Wozniak while attending Homestead High School, and the two became good friends. He worked at Reed College in Oregon in 1972, but stayed there for a while and moved to San Francisco after six months. He got a job at Atari in 1974 and founded Apple with Wozniak in April 1976.

Bill Gates was born in Seattle in 1955 and became interested in technology at Lakeside School. He went to Harvard in 1973, but only studied there for two years. Gates was much more interested in programming and starting a business than in academia. He developed the operating system that Microsoft started in April 1975 with Paul Allen, a student at Lakeside School.
