OFFICIAL: James Rodriguez joins Everton from Real Madrid for £22m
The 29 year old has signed a two year deal with an option for a third season in a move that sees him link up with Carlo Ancelotti for the third time, having played under him at Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
Ancelotti signed James from Monaco as Real manager in 2014, but the former World Cup Golden Boot winner failed to truly establish himself in the Spanish capital, before going on a two season loan to Bayern in 2017, by which point Ancelotti was in charge of the German side.
With one year remaining on his Real contract, James had been deemed surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu by Zinedine Zidane.
"I am really, really happy to be at this great club, a club with so much history, and here with a manager who knows me really well," he said.
Chelsea Consider Bid for Decler Price
Chelsea could push their summer spending to over £250 million with the signing of West Ham United’s Declan Rice, according to The Athletic. The 21 year old has been a long term target for Frank Lampard and could be part of Chelsea’s resurgence in the transfer market.
During this transfer window, Chelsea have been particularly busy and are set to hit spending records. The Blues have already signed Timo Werner, Kai Harvertz, Ben Chilwell, Hakim Ziyech and Thiago Silva, and with Declan Rice very much in demand, it is an exciting time to be a Chelsea fan.
Despite performing consistently well as a defensive midfielder for the Hammers, Rice could slot in at the heart of defence at Stamford Bridge. Lampard has openly stated that that Rice could be the difference in Chelsea’s pursuit of domestic glory.
However, if Chelsea’s current holding midfielders depart this window, then Rice may be seen as the perfect cover. Jorginho has been rumoured with a move to Juventus. Similarly, N’Golo Kante has been linked with a move to Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan.
Manchester United consider Perisic loan
Manchester United are considering a loan move for Ivan Perisic, reports the Mirror.
United are still interested in signing Jadon Sancho, but they are far from meeting Borussia Dortmund’s transfer fee valuation.
A loan move for Perisic would give United an option for the season, and with Inter Milan keen to shift the player out of the club again, he has reportedly been offered to United. Another option would be Juventus winger Douglas Costa, who has also been put forward to United as an option.
Perisic meanwhile was wanted by United under Jose Mourinho but Ed Woodward did not deliver him. He won the Champions League and Bundesliga with Bayern Munich last season but they have now recruited Leroy Sane from Manchester City on a permanent basis.
Barcelona to hijack Thiago Alcantara transfer from Liverpool - reports
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are considering making a move for Thiago Alcantara. The Bayern Munich midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool this summer, but his former club Barca are having an internal debate on whether or not to join the race. Manager Ronald Koeman, however, does prefer to Georginio Wijnaldum as he has worked together with him for the Dutch national team.
While there is no doubt Wijnaldum could bring the energy and work-rate to the table for Barcelona, it is Thiago who is much more versatile and tactical.
Thiago is quite familiar with Barcelona’s tactical philosophy and the club’s identity as a whole. It could provide him with a massive advantage over Wijnaldum as the Spaniard is more likely to settle in quickly, having previously featured in 68 La Liga matches.
