You might have already heard or seen the Word 'Meta' ,Yes you are right , Facebook recently changed its name from Facebook to Meta .
Ever since then , The metaverse has been a very hot topic of conversation with Facebook and Microsoft both staking claims. But what is the metaverse? When will it become public ? Is it a good thing or a bad things ? How will it affect our lives ? So and so .
There are many untapped questions and reality we can explore with Metaverse becoming into reality.
But first let us know What is the metaverse?
So according to many explanation "It's a combination of multiple elements of technology, including virtual reality, augmented reality and video where users "live" within a digital universe.
Many Supporters of the metaverse envision its users working, playing and staying connected with friends through everything from concerts and conferences to virtual trips around to the world.And I believe their vision. Ofcourse it won't happen now but sooner it will.
When can we expect to see it?
Well no one can tell the exact year when Metaverse things will be fully active however we know that this virtual world Metaverse universe is approaching near as many big companies are investing into it .
Taking the example of Facebook and Microsoft.
Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of the newly named Meta (formerly Facebook), estimates it could take five to 10 years before the key features of the metaverse become mainstream. But aspects of the metaverse currently exist. Ultra-fast broadband speeds, virtual reality headsets and persistent always-on online worlds are already up and running, even though they may not be accessible to all.
Here are some of the major companies putting their hands onto meta things and trust me it is going to be a big things once Metaverse come into fully functioning.
1. Meta : formerly known as Facebook , has already made significant investments in virtual reality, including the 2014 acquisition of Oculus. Meta envisions a virtual world where digital avatars connect through work, travel or entertainment using VR headsets. Zuckerberg has been bullish on the metaverse, believing it could replace the internet as we know it. No doubt for that. Meta is looking forward to invest Billions of Dollar into Virtual World and had been doing so for the past few years.
2. Microsoft : The software giant already uses holograms and is developing mixed and extended reality (XR) applications with its Microsoft Mesh platform, which combine the real world with augmented reality and virtual reality. Earlier this month, Microsoft showed off its plans for bringing mixed-reality including holograms and virtual avatars to Microsoft Teams in 2022.
Beyond that, Xbox Live already connects millions of video game players across the globe, too.
Minecraft is Another virtual universe beloved by kids, the Microsoft-owned Minecraft is essentially the digital equivalent of Legos, where players can create their own digital character and build whatever they desire. As of August, Minecraft boasts more than 140 million monthly active users. During the pandemic, it has exploded in popularity among kids who had to rely more heavily on virtual connections.
3. Epic Games : Recently Tim Sweeney, CEO of the company that developed Fortnite, said that Epic is investing heafty in building the metaverse." It's held concerts by the likes of Ariana Grande and Travis Scott, movie trailers and music debuts and even an "immersive" re-imagining of Martin Luther King Jr.'s 1963 historic "I Have A Dream" speech. And it's developing photorealistic digital humans with its MetaHuman Creator, which could be how you customize your digital doppelganger in future open-world games.
4. Roblox - This platform was founded in 2004, houses scores of user-generated games, including role-playing offerings like Bloxburg and Brookhaven, where users can build homes, work and play out scenarios. Roblox is now valued at more than $45 billion after going public this year. Roblox has also teamed up with skateboarding shoe company Vans to create Vans World, a virtual skateboarding park where players can dress up in fresh Vans gear and opened a limited Gucci Garden, where you can try and buy clothing and accessories for your virtual self.
Now it's not a debate of if but when Metaverse Reality will become a part of our life.
Soon people will stop going to Office instead get into their virtual office space . Shopping things online will be so much different . Owning Digital assets will be a things then . And not forgetting Crypto currency which will be the main driving force of all this .
Now coming to the end , will Metaverse Reality going to be a good thing or a bad thing ? Well honestly I don't have the exact answer to it but what I can tell as per my research and understanding is that , Majority of the Good sides goes to it . Ofcourse there will be some bad stuff happening in the bg . We all know Today's world is alot different than the 50's . And every Century has seen its own development and growth alongside with clubing of good and bad things.
A year or decade from now , things will be quite different than today and we must take the credit of it coming and just accept what it will offer .If we all focus more on good side , everything will be just fine.
