It's been 7 days since I got the news of my father's death. It's been heart ricking. I could practically not do a thing. I heard a knock on the door. This guys should let me be.
"I brought you lunch!" That was Martha. she should be resting, she just put to bed. I wouldn't open the door for her.
"I'm not hungry Martha! Let me be. You better go to your daughter. She needs you more"
I heard a persistent knock that brought me to reality. It's dark already I must have slept for so long.
"Ann! Please open the door, please, stop hurting yourself. You need to eat!" I never knew where the strength came from but I got up to unlock the knob.
" My medicine!"
I grabbed him with all the life left inside of me. Always handsome, he smells of Rush cologne. We were like that for close to five minutes.
"Can I come in!" He asked, so polite!!!
What else do I want, he is just the perfect one for me. That blessing that came at the right time. I lead him into my room.He looked around, he must be observing the arrangements of the room and my framed pictures on the wall.
"You're so lean! What happened? When last did you eat? and your skin is so pale. Why are your eyes swollen and red?" I kept staring like I had no idea of all that he was saying.
"A question at a time! Have been crying so much. Thinking about the best father in the world. It beaks my heart that I would no longer have someone to call father. He is such a good man, a big time philanthropist. I had never cry because of a need. Father was a comedian always trying his best to make everyone happy including his greedy daughter. Just imagine father as become was, I have to use was for my father. Father is gone can't accept this truth. I am fa...fa..therless"
I broke down in tears right in front of him. He made me rest on his shoulders. Oh! How I want this moment to last for so long.
"I understand your pain because I have got no father too. Just thinking about the evil you have for a sister Is enough to make you cry because you know she will make trouble about the will but all things are working in your favour. What do you want grandma to do? If you're acting this way. Grandma lost her son-in-law and her daughter is in the hospital fighting for her life. You need to be strong. If you don't win the war within how can you win the war outside. I got you dinner! Your favourite!"
I smiled! He got me Abacha!
"Let me have it!" I said
He smiled, "good girl!"
I hope he feels the same way I feel
