The Tree of Good And Evil

From the very day God told Adam not to eat from the tree, Adam did not go close to the tree.

Adam chose God instead of the tree because Adam knew that God trusted him, that was why he placed him in charge. Adam did not see the tree as challenge, but anytime Adam looked at the tree, he remembered all the warnings that God gave to him. Adam passed all the instructions to Eve saying: "the Lord God said we should not eat from this tree, that the day we do, we shall die." From that day, the tree became a challenge to Eve, she could not eyes off the beauty in the tree, for Adam trusted Eve just as God trusted Adam. But Eve disappointed Adam by eating the fruit. Her eyes became opened and she became more wiser than Adam, because the tree is the tree of knowledge, good and evil.

Eve forgot about the consequence of death, after all she was not there when God told Adam not to eat from the tree. She was so determined to do that which her heart desires, hence the serpent helped her to fulfill her heart desire.

Text James 1:13-15

And remember, when you are been tempted do not say God is tempting you. God is never tempted to do wrong and tempts anyone else. Temptation comes from our own desire, which entice us and dragged us away. This desire gives birth to sinful action. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.

This was what happened to Eve. It was not the fault of God neither the fault of Adam, but the fault came from her. What you don't desire can not have authority over you. When you desire quick wealth Satan will help you to fulfill it through the wrong means. When you desire someone else's wife, Satan will help you to accomplish it fast, and this could lead you to your doom.

Temptation starts from our heart. If your heart is good, you see yourself doing good things, but if your heart is evil you see yourself doing evil things.

"Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks"

In Genesis 3:1, It was the serpent that asked the woman a question about the tree and in Genesis 3:2 the woman replied: "God said the day we eat of this tree, we shall surely die". Then the serpent convinced the woman why she should eat from the tree.

When you disobey instruction, the only thing you get is destruction. Eve disobeyed the instruction of Adam by eating the fruit, and with the charm of love, she gave the fruit to her husband Adam. Adam could not resist the love from Eve. He denounced the love of God and break the instruction of God, he chose Eve instead of life. Adam knew the consequence of eating the fruit, because his wife had already eaten it, he chose to eat it with his wife.

How many men can behave like Adam in the world,? knowing fully well that Eve would die, he chose to die with Eve. If everyone can build this type of love foundation, i don't think that we would have problem in our love lives. Even when God drove them out of the garden of Eden, their love became more stronger. These were people that were living in paradise, overnight everything turned against them.

This is one thing i have learnt from Adam and Eve, that husbands and wives should cover for each other, stand for each other. Adam did not blame Eve for her mistake, instead Adam blamed God knowing fully well that it was Eve that gave him the fruit, but Adam said: "it was the woman you gave to me". And God asked the woman, and the woman blamed the serpent.

Now! Who is to be blamed here, is it Eve, is it Adam or the serpent?

I came to conclusion that Adam blamed God for his mistake and Eve blamed the serpent for her mistake, knowing fully well that it was God that created the serpent. Because if God had asked the serpent, the serpent would have blamed God, because its God that created the serpent.

I have heard people saying: why did God placed the tree in the middle of the garden? This is why when people make mistake in one way or the other, they pass the blame on God as if God is the architect of their problems.

Its a painful thing, when you try to help someone when failing will turn around to blame you that you are the cause of their problems. God has given us the free will to do what suits our heart, it was that same free will He gave to Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden. When they disappointed God, He didn't withdrew the free will but in His anger He passed a decree upon the three of them.
