The Pentagon just released plans for its new class of Submarines 'The California Class' with the ability to dispatch mental healthcare workers anywhere in the world. The new class of submarines will have a multitude of new features unseen in previous classes. The main new feature the Pentagon labelled as a game changer; each vessel within the class will replace its Seal Team 6 with a platoon of mental healthcare workers. The Pentagon acknowledged the growing trend of replacing frontline forces such as the police or military with mental healthcare workers. Admiral Shatoie was quoted as saying "No other military force in the world will maintain such a large contingent of mental healthcare workers, it represents a new direction for military doctrine. A real game changer".
When questioned about whether this new class of submarines will meet the needs of the American military in confronting increasingly aggressive adversaries such as Iran, China or the re-emerging Russia, Admiral Shatoie cited a recent report released by the Biden Administration which labelled the growing authoritarianism in the world as a mental health crisis. The report states that due to the Trump Administration’s tougher sanctions on countries such as Iran and Russia, and technology curbs on exporting to China, these countries now face a severe shortage of medication to treat mental health issues. The Admiral said “Due to this severe shortage, we are seeing the leadership of these countries display common characteristics of mental health disabilities”. The Admiral quickly corrected herself and referred to them as “neuro-divergent persons”. Vice Admiral Mumbakara whom accompanied Admiral Shatoie followed with the statement “Traditional military thinking would suggest you should not bring a knife to a gun fight, the same principal applies when dealing with a mental health crisis”.

A source who wished to remain anonymous has told the Huffington Post the new class of submarines planned main theatre of operation will be the Persian Gulf and South China Sea. The source was quoted as saying “These new submarines need the ability to quickly deploy their platoon of mental healthcare workers to the coast of Iran or Chinese man-made islands in the South China Sea to deal with the ongoing mental health crisis”.
But perhaps the most anticipated news for many military watches was the namesake of the lead ship of the new class. Traditionally the lead ship holds the same name as the class of ships, but the Navy recently broke this tradition in the name of progress. The Admiral unveiled the lead ship would be named USS George Floyd in honor of his contributions towards racial equality. Vice-Admiral Mumbakara emphasized the need for diversity not only within the Navy itself but also the names of ships. She was quoted as saying “There are too many white people sounding names, we wanted more representation”. Diversity within the Navy has been a major priority under the leadership of Admiral Shatoie, the livery of the new class was also unveiled as a stealth BLM (Black Lives Matter) livery.

The Admiral mentioned the new strict hiring quotas the Navy recently introduced to have a greater diversity among crew members. The Admiral said “Not only do we want people of different color, but we also want diversity in the gender spectrum and neurological spectrum.” She said the biggest change was to the diversity of crew members capable of carrying the nuclear codes. “Submarines operate different to other vessels” she said, “They have the ability to launch nuclear weapons without approval from Washington. This is a very vital role, and there wasn’t enough diversity among crew members trained to operate and carry the nuclear codes. Under my administration we increased autistic spectrum peoples by 500% in this field of operation. Each California class vessel must have at least 1 autistic spectrum persons operating within the nuclear code carrying team”.
Other features of the California Class of Submarines include safe-spaces for people of color crew members, torpedo’s fitted with flyers containing the contact numbers of mental healthcare professionals, and new green technology to provide carbon free power for the vessels. When pressed for explanations what green technology would be used Admiral Shatoie said “Somethings are classified but I can tell you we are currently exploring the idea of putting solar panels on the top of the new vessels”. While current technology means solar panels would be useless underwater the Admiral admitted that until the technology is perfected the ship would be outfitted with traditional diesel electric engines and not nuclear powered like other vessels within the Navy.
The Vice Admiral also acknowledged that all crew members will have their college debt cancelled, which has recently led to an influx of applicants. She said this is all part of our strategy to change the concept of a blue water navy into what we like to refer to as a rainbow water navy.
