Adolescence is one of the most important and sensitive stages of life that a person goes through. This is because it is a transitional stage that leads the individual from childhood and meekness to youth and adulthood, as it is a developmental stage like all other stages, except that it is punctuated by a comprehensive and radical change in all aspects and physical, mental, emotional and social phenomena, while adolescence may in general be considered an age crisis that may arise due to many Of the factors, either due to internal and external factors, or due to the great defect in methods of treatment and interaction with some of the problems that a teenager or adolescence may encounter.

Subjective problems

The problems that may be subjective and psychological in origin are:

Problems related to the self and external appearance

The adolescent is constantly watching his external appearance and is paying great attention to him, so he monitors all kinds of physical and physiological changes and developments that can be observed on the general appearance as he grows older during the period of adolescence, as it is reflected in the reactions of others around him to these physical changes, and at this specific stage the conflict begins The psychological means with the body, it appears either by arrogance and condescension if it is distinguished by goodness and elegance, or by withdrawal, justification and defensive methods to compensate for the feeling of inferiority, and this conflict results in many positive or negative characteristics and features that appear in the responses of the individual with those around him.

Problems arising from fear

The adolescent may suffer from many fears that make him an anxious and unstable individual, and these fears may be from parents at home and teachers at school, in addition to fear of academic failure and fear of failure, and the teenager also shows resistance to fears resulting from economic problems, religious void, and outlook The misfortune of society and friends that appear with cynicism, contempt and remorse for some mistakes that have been committed, such as cheating in exams or directing insults to others, in addition to all the negative feelings and feelings resulting from suppressed sexual desire, and the continuous pursuit of complete independence and freedom, and all this results in the defect in Psychological and personal compatibility and thus the inability to achieve the required level of balance, and thus the adolescent becomes a reckless and emotional individual, or he may become a withdrawn, isolated and aggressive person, and the variation in adolescent responses depends on the normal methods of Islamic and healthy upbringing.

The problem of psychological incompatibility

The problem of psychological incompatibility is one of the most important and dangerous problems that a teenager can encounter, making him confused and agitated, and it results in many negative feelings Such as crying and sadness, anxiety, constant distress, lack of stability and safety, severity of emotional responses exaggerated, in addition to the instability and volatility of relationships with others, and all of the above results in the loss of a sense of his role in life, his feeling of emptiness, isolation and loneliness, lack of balance, emotional isolation, and lack The emotional, the constant feeling that his life is threatened by diseases and wars, and all kinds of dangers with no one to protect him. The impairment of psychological compatibility negatively and directly affects other forms of compatibility. Such as social, educational and organic compatibility; What is required at this stage is to achieve a state of self-balance, psychological, social, and emotional through proper social and family upbringing, and training in the processes of normalization and adaptation, so the more the adolescent is able to understand and accept himself, the more capable of adaptation and compatibility with self and the environment.

External problems

The stage of adolescence differs from one individual to another according to the cultural and civilizational differences and the geographical environment in addition to the clear impact of the values, religions and beliefs. The adolescent in a rural society differs from the adolescent in a free society. These differences appear in the level of meeting different needs and the opportunities available to satisfy them. Likewise, the stage of adolescence is affected by the previous experiences that the individual went through in childhood, so adolescence is the result of a series of environmental, cultural and civilizational stimuli.

A teenager's external environmental problems can be explained through the following:

  • The relationship of the individual with the family: usually appears in the so-called conflict of generations and differing views, and usually the conflict of the teenager with the family is about studying, how to fill free time and waste time in what is not useful, and academic failure and failure to perform homework and school duties, and this conflict intensifies when desired The individual is in complete independence from the family and rebelling against the authority of parents.

  • The relationship of the individual with the community: It is assumed that the individual’s relationship with his society is based on mutual understanding and giving, openness to new social experiences and experiences and positive interaction with them, thus showing that the proper upbringing depends on discipline, awareness and help with adaptation, and any functional deficiency that affects one of the elements The interactive process between the individual and society results from the presence of disturbance in the process of social agreement of the individual pushing him to isolation, withdrawal, introversion and the generation of negative feelings towards others.
