Materials Science and Engineering is the study of materials from the macro to the atomic scale. It studies the chemistry structure of the materials such as Metals, Ceramics, Polymers and Composites. From what I read the goal of the MSE is to create/manufacture materials with suitable properties for a specific application.
Now, how can Materials Science be related to Electrical Engineering? In reading the subject title you wont really expect that there will be any relation, but as I studied Electrical Engineering I know that materials holds an important part for being an Electrical Engineer. In MSE, you need to study materials from macro and atomic scale which is the same for EE you need to study the flow of current and voltage, you need to understand how it works and what materials you need to use for safety purposes. If you failed to use the right materials, chances of risk and accidents are high.
Just like the different kinds of wires: copper, aluminum and silver. They have their own advantages and you need to fully understand their structures in order to know as to what type of wire you’re gonna in the future. Studying Materials Science and Engineering will be a big help to all Electrical Engineering Students because it will strengthen their information about materials they’re gonna use in the future and we can also gain new information's that we can also apply ti our profession.
