Every country in the world has a national flag. The national flag is a symbol of national pride and self-identity. As an independent sovereign country, Bangladesh also has a national flag. The color, shape and use of the national flag of Bangladesh is governed by the 1972 National Flag Rules.

The current flag was adopted on January 17, 1982, with a rectangular base texture of dark green and a bright red circle in the middle. The original leaf was designed by artist Kamrul Hasan. The flag of Bangladesh was first hoisted on March 2, 1971 on the premises of Dhaka University. The then BP A, S, M, Abdur Rab of Dakshur hoisted the flag. The first or original flag had a map of Bangladesh in the middle of the red circle.

The map was removed from the flag in 1982. On the occasion of the Declaration of Independence on March 2, 1971, Bangabandhu hoisted the flag of Bangladesh at his residence. The size of the national flag of Bangladesh is as follows: The size differences can be 305 cm x 183 cm, 152 cm x91 cm, 6 cm, x 47 cm x 183 cm and 36 cm x 25 cm x 25 cm for automobiles.

The green color of the national flag is a symbol of the green nature of Bangladesh and the red color is a symbol of the blood of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country. Moreover, the freedom of the red circle is also a symbol of sovereignty. The national flag is a symbol of our pride and arrogance. It is everyone's responsibility to protect its honor. Violation of the rules of its use is a punishable offense.
