Rayan, the boy who shocked the world with his death after falling down a well in Morocco.
Rayan, the 5 year old Moroccan boy, after falling into a well more than 100 feet deep. He was located near his home, in the village of Iran in the north of the country.
For three days rescue workers brought excavators, dug a parallel trench and dug a horizontal tunnel to reach the child. Meanwhile the medical team brought a camera down to see the condition of little Rayan, with multiple bruises and facial injuries caused by the fall. The images were seen, and moved the world and Africa before this desperate situation. The medical team managed to bring down oxygen and food for the little boy, but they stated that despite having seen him we still did not know if Rayan was alive.
A crowd shouted "Allahu Akbar" on Saturday night as rescuers emerged from a rescue tunnel with Rayan Oram, hoping to see him alive. Video footage shows Rayan, wrapped in a yellow blanket, being taken to the emergency room after being rescued through a tunnel dug for the rescue.
Rescuers managed to get the little boy out, but minutes later confirmed what no one wanted to hear; the child was dead. The Royal House of Morocco was the one to decree the terrible tragedy. The king also praised the efforts of the rescuers and the solidarity shown by all Moroccans, reported Morocco World News . The hashtag #SaveRayan and its Arabic translation were trending on social media in much of the Arab world. Condolences poured in when Rayan's death was reported.
