Cashback is a superb way of making some extra money online, by earning from the things you buy anyway, by clicking through to that merchant through a cashback website or app.

This is a very handy way of making some extra money, by doing what you would have done anyway, just by being savvy about it.

As well as that there are always a load of free cashback offers or free trials that you can make some really easy money from, by using the cashback site.

The problems

Occasionally and it really is occasionally I have found an offer that won't track on the cashback website, and this leads you to potentially not getting that lovely money back on your purchase.

This is obviously not what you want.

I have to say 99% of the time this is not a problem, as long as your not using an ad blocker, or say brave browser for example it will always track.

But still, sometimes there are issues, but it is important at this point not to write off the money. There are some tips to follow to ensure you get the cashback that you always deserve.

Keep track of your cashback sign ups

The first thing that I do is to keep track of all my cashback clicks and purchases, on a lovely excel spreadsheet, otherwise, it can be easy to forget what you bought and when, so something as simple as the site that you clicked, which cashback site you used and the date you did, it, often I will take a screenshot of the cashback page as well so I can see how much I was supposed to get.

Then add on to it how long until the cashback should show as pending on my account, some are a few hours some can be 7 days. The page that you buy the cashback generally shows you how long it takes to track, and then you know when you need to check to trace.

There is no point chasing it any earlier, it may show up earlier, but if you submit a ticket before they will likely just ask you to wait.

Keep screenshots and all signup emails and order confirmations saved

If the cashback doesn't track for whatever reason, then when you submit a ticket, the cashback company will want you to be able to prove to them that you have signed up and followed the terms and conditions.

In order for this they will want proof, so to best assist your ticket, it helps to have all signup emails, order confirmations, or if your feeling really good any screenshots taken during sign up.

You are normally always able to find these after the fact and locate all the information that you need, but it never hurts to be prepared. It will make it easier if it is needed

Submit a ticket

So if after the date it is shown as not pending and you still can't see it tracked in your cashback ledger, then you will need to submit a help ticket.

All of the cashback sites have their own versions of this that are easy to send a quick ticket email to and explain what the problem is.

I have used Quidco, top cashback and oh my dosh in the past when things haven't worked as expected but it was very easy to do the tickets and get the help I need.

Keep it polite, there is no point in shouting and being abusive in your message they are there to help you. Yes, it is frustrating, but they want you to get the cashback as well.

Explain what has happened, provide as much relevant information as possible, showing the account or order is in your name that you have any email confirmation or anything like that.

Attach the screenshots, and then just wait patiently for the response, sometimes you will need further information.

This happened to me recently with oh my dosh, and I could understand why one offer I signed up to was kitty bingo, it didn't track for some reason, and their account it was so difficult to show that it was in my name and my email as all the correspondence from the merchant was so vague, but we persevered and after a few messages back and further the cashback is in my account.

Following these methods, I think it is very unlikely that you will have any problems claiming any unclaimed cashback.

If you haven't already you really should sign up to some cashback sites, if you buy stuff online, then it really is free money.
