Hey there read.cash readers! I recently came back home to Los Angeles and noticed that many restaurants have started to implement a specific type of food for a particular consumer. The demand for vegetarian and vegan food has created a trend among food chains that were once known only for meat-eaters. Places like "El Pollo Loco", "Dunkin' Donuts", "Carl's Jr.", "Starbucks", and so many other popular food chains now carry vegetarian food options!
It's kind of hard to believe since, for nearly a decade, people had no clue what a vegetarian even was. I had the opportunity of actually trying some of these foods and I have to say, they don't disappoint but they also don't surprise me. Veggie sausage patties are among the more famous options carried by Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts which makes sense given they sell coffee.
In my opinion, El Pollo Loco in the last decade has done nothing but cut the quality of their food. I had their 'vegan chickenless 'pollo' burrito not too long ago but it was definitely not the best. Compared to their food ten years ago, the flavor combinations is nowhere near the same as before. Yes, I know it's vegan but that doesn't mean the taste has to be "dumbed" down.
In the end, I'm just glad food chains are realizing that vegan/vegetarian consumers are going to keep on increasing. Their ability to uphold that demand will create serious traffic for them in the next coming years. As our world changes to become more environmentally sustainable, these types of foods will appear more often than not. If you're a meat-eater, I would encourage you to give some of these foods a try. Then write your honest opinion about it so companies know where to make adjustments in their food!
