Axie Infinity: All The Info You Need To Know

WHAT IS AXIE INFINITY?

Axie Infinity is a Pokémon-inspired world in which everyone can earn tokens through competent gaming and ecosystem contributions. Players can use their pets to fight, collect, grow, and develop a land-based empire.

Third parties have easy access to all art assets and Axie genetic data, enabling community developers to create their own Axie Infinity tools and experiences.

Axie is the most popular Ethereum game among daily, weekly, and monthly active users, despite the fact that it is still in early access. So far, it has earned about 13,000 ETH in income (16 million+ USD).

While Axie is a nice game, it has evolved into a social network and job platform as a result of its early success, which has resulted in a strong community and play to earn opportunities.

The main difference between Axie and a typical game is that our players are rewarded for their contributions to the ecosystem via Blockchain economic design. This new gaming concept has been dubbed "play to earn".

Thousands of players from developing countries have joined Axie in search of a new source of income during the Covid pandemic. Many of these participants are fathers, aunts, and even grandparents who have never heard of Blockchain technology.

Players can earn money by doing the following:

  • Breeding Axies and selling them on the market.

  • Rare Axies such as Mystics and Origins are collected and speculated on.

  • These can be traded on Uniswap and Binance, among other exchanges. Players can acquire a governance token, AXS, starting in 2021, which represents a real chunk of the game universe because it includes governance rights and fee sharing.

  • Because players can gain this token just by playing, a Ready Player One-style quest emerges in which players can earn a piece of the cosmos. These quests, however, are not winner-take-all, and each player is rewarded based on their work and expertise.

GAMEPLAY

Axie Infinity is a digital pet cosmos with an open-ended structure. In collaboration with the community, the Axie core team will develop functionality for the gaming assets linked with the Axie brand. The Axie universe must be enjoyable above all things; the ecosystem can only attract enough members to accrue value to the network if it provides an engaging gaming experience.

Battle

In October 2018, the Axie core team released the first fight system built on top of the Axie game assets. With inspiration from games like "Final Fantasy Tactics" and "Idle Heroes," the battle system was designed as a "idle battle" method.

In March 2019, the Axie team began work on the real-time card battle system and application, and in December 2019, an Alpha was published. As of October 2020, the app has over 15,000 downloads and over 7,000 weekly active users.

We intend Axie to have a variety of bouts in the future, just like Pokemon has gone through various iterations and types of fighting systems.

Esports and tournaments

The Axie battle system is a suitable fit for competitive play and Esports because to its skill-based, competitive character. We believe this is an important part for future growth, and we've seen how engaged players get when money is on the line.

Through several competitions run by the core team or third-party sponsors, Axie players have already earned thousands of dollars in cryptocurrency.

$SLP and breeding

Axies, like real-life pets, can be bred to produce new progeny. To avoid Axie hyperinflation, there is a limit to how many times an Axie can be bred before it becomes infertile.

Based on how many times the Axies have already been bred, breeding an Axie requires AXS and several Smooth Love Potions. The AXS component is flexible and subject to change depending on a variety of economic conditions.

Players cannot buy $SLP directly from Axie Infinity.

Long-term Resilience and the Axie Economy

Principles of Axie

Axie is a novel sort of game that compensates players for their time and effort spent both playing the game and contributing to the ecosystem's growth.

Axie's economy is entirely controlled by the players. Instead of selling game stuff or copies, the game's makers are concentrating on expanding the player-to-player economy. Fees from the marketplace are put into a Community Treasury, whose use is decided by AXS holders. The developers profit from their AXS token holdings. Axies are manufactured by gamers and sold to new/other players using in-game resources (SLP & AXS). Axie can be thought of as a country with a functioning economy. The government that receives tax income is the owner of the AXS token. Sky Mavis, the game's creators and constructors, own 20% of all AXS tokens.

Tokenization means that game resources and items can be traded to anybody, anywhere on open peer-to-peer markets.

Within the Axie ecosystem, population increase is an important factor. At any given time, there is a perfect inflation rate that allows us to achieve our full potential. Axie pricing, especially competitive Axies, are too high for average people to participate, and the procedure is too slow. Inflation that is too rapid results in unhealthy inflation. AXS / SLP tokens are subject to the same economic pressures that must be handled.

Longevity of the economy

The economy will be supported in the long run by adding:

  • Axies now have even more utility. Over time, new and improved experiences will be introduced, such as Land, Mini-games, and Battle upgrades. Axies will gain new value outside of battle, in addition to their success in short-term metas. Within the Axie universe, players will always have fresh objectives to achieve. Finally, the intrinsic value that Axies may bring to users in the form of competitive, social, and progression-based enjoyment and achievements will drive demand for them.

  • Rather than a simply horizontal progression, there is a vertical progression. Currently, the most common way to advance in Battle is to increase the size of one's collection. This dynamic is not sustainable in the long run. In the long term, enhancements to Axies, Land, and other assets will necessitate the use of crafting supplies. Axies can be "released" in order to gain these crafting materials or unlock upgrades. The Axie population will experience a long-term supply sink as a result of this. Axie advancement is on the way, and it promises to strengthen the link between trainers and the Axies they select to enhance.

  • Improvements in accessibility that help uncover long-term benefit. There are now a number of points of friction that prevent users from diving into Axie Infinity to fight, have fun, and interact with the community. Enhancing onboarding and allowing users to love the sport for free, for example, would encourage more players to fall in love with the Axie universe and desire to participate in the economy in the long run. The longer Axies and related assets are in demand, the healthier the long-term economy will be.

The Axie economy will be relying on fresh entrants in the beginning to maximize growth. To get started, new players will need Axies, and it is critical to guarantee that there are enough Axies being bred to make this possible. Additional Axie sinks should be implemented with caution, as they may impede growth by causing prices to rise too high. The above-mentioned features will be phased in over time to shift the economy toward growth and sustainability through demand from existing players, reducing reliance on new entrants into the ecosystem.

Additional Capital Sources

Many other chances to inject additional capital into the economy as a bonus on top of the basic player-to-player economic activity will present themselves as the game becomes more established and scales:

  • Sponsorships and advertising Many companies are already eager to provide Axie economic prizes and tokens. Axie gamers have received experimental token drops from MakerDAO, AAVE, and Kyber Network so far. Axie already has the world's largest community of people who know how to use Blockchain technology; there's a lot of value in advertising to such a group.

  • Merchandise is available in both physical and digital formats. This is already a common request from passionate players who want more real and/or digital products to showcase and flaunt their love for the game. Merchandise might include everything from limited-edition official Axie Art NFTs to T-shirts and Plushies. Profits would be reinvested in the game and distributed to the players.

  • Events that take place offline. The global Axie community has formed exceptionally deep ties, and seeing other Lunacians in person is an important aspect of the Axie experience. Profits from large-scale community events would be reinvested in the game and distributed to participants.

Even though many Axie players have profited handsomely from their efforts and purchases, many have also participated for the sake of having fun and being part of a social network. They're eager to come up with novel Axie fight techniques in order to top the leaderboard or simply socialize with new people in the community. They place a higher value on these experiences than any possible earnings. Long-term, these players strengthen the economy, and Sky Mavis aims to assist more players in gaining this value.
