Building Metaverse. Will you be there?

Hey, I'm here again! Yes, the crazy dude who writes stuff on the internet!

Do not forget to follow all my advice if you want to lose your wife because you have put the rent money in "coins that are worth cents but can be worth thousands of dollars"

You may have heard about the metaverse so many times that you have already done your research and even already have participated in some of the most interesting ones out there today. It is a concept that already appeared in the '90s and that is in the plans of many large companies. The best-known example is probably Meta, the company that used to be Facebook (owners of Instagram and Whatsapp too).

I am talking about a concept because there is still a way to go to reach the desired adoption and gameplay goals. One of the main barriers is in the virtual reality and augmented reality devices with which users connect. They still haven't reached the level necessary for it to truly become a parallel universe, since today's technological barriers only allow for a slightly more immersive experience than the best video games.

"Walker there is no path, the path is made by walking" - Antonio Machado.

Building that path, more and more companies are getting involved and I believe that in a few years they will begin to improve. Remember for example the Nokia 8210 which was a high-end phone in 1999.

Like everything in life, the metaverse has supporters and detractors, so it's also a battle to fight, to achieve cultural adoption. I think it is a battle won if the immersion is realistic and the devices are economical. People don't usually like to be left out of the group. To put ourselves in context we need to understand the world from all positions since each person is a world in itself.

Why am I spending my time in a fictional world?

- It may be that you have to travel for work or any other reason and still meet your childhood friends after work in the virtual bar. Even if you are in a different country.

- It may be that you have some hang-up about your physique and you like more how people treat you when they see your avatar.

- You may have the opportunity to attend events on the other side of an ocean.

- There may be so many activities and microgames that you have more fun than playing video games.

- It may be that you have a stroke or are in a wheelchair, but with your mind, you can control all the functionalities to live the same experiences as anyone.

The possibilities are there, now is the time to build and that is a part in which we can all participate. The platforms and devices are a part of the work that falls to the developers, engineers, and other parts of the technical team. But the virtual worlds themselves will be the users who will participate and actively help build and lead in some direction.

Imagine that you are the creator of a metaverse and with your best intentions you hire artists to play concerts, but not even 10% of users assist. On the other hand, when you rent cars to race, everyone wants a car and you have the event with plenty of competitors and spectators. The community is probably showing you the way, right?

I'm playing Upland because is super user-friendly. I will explore any others in the future.

Which metaverse are you in?

Which one would you get in?
