Why should I Worry or Fret...

I am wondering why do we people worry or fret - truly I was thinking why do we feel the need to show off or want to be in the limelight.

In my workplace, someone had left a voice memo and wrote in it as

"Once David Oluwafemi fails, great will be my fall"

and I was restlessly wondering why someone would worry so much about another person that he doesn't have much connection with.

On the same day, I read an article written by a Nigerian writer Albert Dodo, on any new thing you try to do that will make people uncomfortable.

This got me thinking - the only thing that I came up with is this - people or community see us as their breadwinner or rather the provider of their needs. This makes people feel uneasy if you are doing something that's not normal or not suitable for your status quo. They feel as if you are going down the wrong path and they would follow suit.

Why worry? More people are living in poverty and they are dying every day, people are starving and we wonder why?

Children are abused, neglected and left to die on the roadside while we wonder why it is happening.

We have been robbed of our individuality; we have become robots. We allow our leaders to take away our right to speak and make decisions for us. We have forgotten our purpose, our reason for being.

It's time we wake up from our slumber and stop worshipping the ones who enslave us for we were born free. There is nothing that can chain us down to the ground except our fears, and we must learn not to be afraid to stand up for ourselves. It is time we reclaim what belongs to us as rightful owners of it.

It's time to stop worrying about what tomorrow holds because tomorrow is not guaranteed.

So, why should we worry or fret?

I guess we should ask ourselves whether all these “things” really matter.

Is it worth your time? Would it take you closer to your dreams and goals?

If yes, then go for it. If it doesn’t, let it go.

Don’t let “negative vibes” affect you or hold you down. Remember, life is too short to waste your time on people or things that do not matter.

The world has enough problems and challenges to handle, we shouldn’t be adding more.

Be the creator of your happiness. Don’t just wait for someone to make you happy because that person doesn’t exist and if he does, he isn’t worth the wait anyway.

The most important thing is to create a solid foundation for happiness.

Don’t worry. Worry less.

There is so much to worry about today, isn’t there? You have your bills to pay, your job to perform, your standing in your community, the pressure of doing things to perfection, the fear that you might lose control of your emotions and do something you will regret.

It is for all these reasons and many others that we have developed a passion for living a worry-free life.

Sometimes, we get so worked up about things that don't even deserve our notice. How many times do we go through unnecessary stress because we are too quick to worry or fret about a thing that doesn't matter?

Then, we hide behind our emotions and feelings of helplessness to try and cover up for the lack of clarity we have in our lives. In the end, all that does is make us real miserable.

The truth of the matter is that life isn't this complicated. There are lots of businesses out there who will assure you your life is complicated, but you're only making it as such.

Take a look at your own life and ask yourself if there are things you can do to make it better or simpler. If it is simple, then why should you be worrying over something so trivial?

Here, we come across some of those things that don't deserve our time and attention. We list below some of the things you shouldn't worry about.

You cannot have peace of mind if you are preoccupied with the nagging feeling of things left undone or unsettled. The solution is to stop worrying and turn our thoughts away from the things that trouble us. What often starts as a passing concern before we go to bed can grow into an obsession by morning.

The next time you find yourself worrying, stop and say to yourself, “I will not worry about this tonight but will take action first thing in the morning.
