It's Valentine
14th, February 2022.
Today is Valentine, a season of love. We show our love by giving to others. It can be through a kind word, a smile, or a hug. Sometimes the simplest things mean the most.
This is a good time to reflect on the story behind Valentine's Day.
I read different versions of the story behind Valentine and would like to share with us
The story of Valentine's Day begins with a Christian saint named Valentine who was persecuted by the Roman emperor Claudius II. Claudius had banned marriage because he believed that unmarried soldiers made better soldiers. Valentine defied the emperor and continued to perform marriages in secret. When Claudius found out, he had Valentine arrested and put to death.
But the story doesn't end there. It's said that before his execution, Valentine sent a letter to a young woman he had married in secret, signing it "From your Valentine." And that's how the tradition of sending Valentine's Day cards began.
Another story of Valentine's Day is a bit murky, but some historians believe it has its roots in the ancient Roman festival of Lupercalia. Celebrated on February 15th, Lupercalia was a fertility festival dedicated to Faunus, the Roman god of agriculture. During the festival, young men would run through the streets with strips of animal hide, slapping women they met along the way. The women were said to enjoy the attention, and some believe this is where the tradition of Valentine's Day chocolates and flowers began.
Love is a universal feeling that touches everyone in different ways. I believe in the power of love and I am committed to celebrating it every day.
I believe that love is the most powerful force in the world. It can heal wounds and make them disappear. It can bring happiness where there was once sadness. And it can change lives for the better.
It brings people together and connects them in ways that nothing else can.
Valentine is a way of bringing the message of love to the world. It’s a celebration of all things love, from the simple joys of a heart-shaped box of chocolates to the deep and abiding love between partners.
