The Bitcoin

Greetings dear reader. Have you ever heard of Bitcoin? The answer is probably “yes” since you are reading this. It is highly likely that you have heard something like: “Bitcoin is monopoly money”, “It is digital and BS” or “Criminals use Bitcoin in the underground super duper deep dark web.” Well it is like having a philosophy of “Bad people breathe air, bring me sarin!”.

Bitcoin has a value that you can’t hold in your hands. It may be challenging to change habits that are established over many years. When you hear the terms “Bitcoin”, “digital money”, “cryptocurrency” etc. it may seem weird or hard to wrap your head around. It is completely normal.

Remember how you had felt when you first started using cell phones. You quit writing people’s names and numbers on an actual notebook with a pencil. Now we have been storing them in our smart phones.

Think about this as you slowly quit the habit of using cash and your credit card started to wear off.

Remember how it has been a long time since you heard the sound of a newspaper while turning pages as you probably have been reading your news on a tablet or on your smartphone.

Bitcoin is just like that. When you encounter a relatively young person talking about Bitcoin, try to see and appreciate the excitement without prejudice. Bitcoin actually is quite interesting and fun.

Bitcoin is digital money with top level security.

Bitcoin is without a doubt Gold 2.0 with extra features. Bitcoin is also money aside from being a store of value.

Making a digital money had been a grueling challenge for many years. Many had tried but failed at creating a fully functional “digital money”. But in 2009 someone (or a group of people) under the alias “Satoshi Nakamoto” managed to create Bitcoin by inventing a technology called blockchain.

Blockchain technology is phenomenal. After the internet, invention of blockchain is “the” invention of our era.

With Bitcoin, you own and also are responsible for your own money. No banks! No third party! Just you. You can send money directly from your own wallet to anyone and vice versa.

Bitcoin is not owned nor controlled by anyone. It is decentralized, distributed and transparent. Bitcoin is secure and you are responsible of your coins, and the downside to all that is Bitcoin is secure and you are responsible of your money. The security is excellent but it can be a nightmare if you lose or forget your private keys to your wallet or you send money to a wrong address, your money is gone forever! No way to recover it. This is the price of perfect security. Since you are responsible of your own assets there is no one to ask help for when you mess things up. This may seems scary but don’t you think a financial system without third parties is wonderful?

But don’t let that scare you! Carrying and being responsible of belongings of any kind have never been easy for humankind. It just needs a new set of habits. And in time you will have them without knowing.

Sign up on a cryptocurrency exchange and buy a small amount of cryptocurrency.

Send some money to someone.

If you have one nearby go buy some Bitcoin from an ATM.

Then go and purchase a coffee or beer or something with it.

Experiment with it. Experience it. A small amount… Just to get a “feeling” for it.

In the future you may wish you would have start somewhere somehow. It might be challenging at first but it is exciting and fun. As you start to learn more about Bitcoin and blockchain you will start to see the beauty and elegancy in its design.

Bitcoin is a pioneer. There are other blockchain or derivative applications. Blockchain is a wonderful invention. What you can do with it is limited only by your imagination.

Thank you for reading. I hope, you enjoyed it and/or it helped you somehow.
Have a nice day :)
