Trading volume on crypto exchanges reaches $ 379 billion in December
Analysts at The Block have recorded a sharp increase in the volume of spot trading on cryptocurrency exchanges. According to them, in December this figure reached a record high ($ 379 billion).
The last time about the same trading volume on exchanges was observed in January 2018. If you pay attention to the chart presented by the researchers, you will notice that spot trading has grown on almost all major platforms.
This trend was observed against the background of the growth of the crypto market.
The lion's share of transactions was processed by the Binance exchange ($ 219.5 billion). The second and third places were shared by the Coinbase and Kraken exchanges ($ 45.7 billion and $ 21.13 billion, respectively).
In November last year, the total amount of trading on the largest platforms exceeded $ 290 billion.In the first four days of January, the amount of transactions on the Binance exchange amounted to about $ 54.74 billion.The total trading volume in January 2020 reached $ 97.46 billion.
As one of the authors of the study, Lars Hoffmann, noted, in 2020, the turnover on crypto exchanges grew to $ 1.92 trillion.
