Huge losses to ban Chinese apps like TikTok, millions downloaded in India, billions earned

The central government has banned a total of 59 Chinese apps, including popular Chinese apps TickTok, Shareit and WeChat, citing security and privacy.  Amid tensions with China, there have been requires a ban on these apps.  These apps have billions in business in India and most of their downloads are in India. Other popular Chinese apps facing ban include popular apps like UC Browser, UC News and MI Community. The govt. has banned Chinese apps that are primarily of a non-financial nature.  Chinese giants Alibaba, Baitdance, Baidu, Tencent, etc. have invested heavily in these apps.  In India, an outsized a part of their downloads.  Therefore, these companies can incur huge financial losses.  Their valuation may additionally be affected.  About 50 per cent of India's total app downloads come from Chinese apps.

Heavy damage to TikTok owner BiteDance

In the banned app, 30 per cent of the foremost popular TickTok users in India are Indians and about 10 per cent of its revenue comes from India.  This app is operated by the Chinese company Bitdance.  India is that the largest marketplace for Tiktok.  Tiktok has 200 million subscribers.  Last year, it had 81 million monthly active users in India who spent 5.5 billion hours on that.

One billion dollar investment plan
