Music has been one of the mediums that seems to be consistently going through changes every year but tends to see large changes in trends over 5-10 year time frames. As of late the largest and what I find to be one of the most impactful changes in the music space is the introduction of NFT's.

Not too far after streaming began to dominate did we start to see consistent changes to how music was being consumed and digested. Albums are no longer receiving the playback they deserve and listeners' attention spans are decreasing consistently which is evident since many tracks these days rarely reach the 3-minute mark. Modern advancements and technology are causing these changes to consistently grow at a faster and faster rate to the point where I now find it very difficult to keep up! Audius is one service that is truly taking advantage of these changes by essentially attempting to build a Spotify for blockchain. Another currently going through development and to launch with flow blockchain will be melos.studio which is giving power back to creators allowing them to collaborate and take ownership of any contributions they add to a track along with much more. In my opinion, all this change is beautiful for the industry in that it's putting the power and income back into the hands of hardworking creatives rather than corporate entities! No longer does an artist have to "pray for the day they get signed" or give into notions of "selling your soul for talent". The independent artist now more than ever can truly achieve great strides with consistent marketing, promoting, managing, and NFT's! What a time to be alive.
