The Struggle of being a Student in Online Learning

Due to the spread of the Coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), our Government here in the Philippines was forced to shut down all the industries including the school to secure the health of everyone.

However, since education should not stop, the Department of Education found ways to adapt in the New Normal. They made different modalities where students can choose to, and one of the modality is online distance class/learning.

In online class, obviously the teacher meets with his/her students virtually and start the teaching-learning process. Some thinks that online class is way better than face-to-face learning, because they would argue that you are just in your house and there is no need to travel for about an hour or more to get to school. But, that is not the case. Yeah, online class has an advantage especially in times of this crisis. However, online class is really draining.

We are given so many tasks as if we only have one subject. And some of those task needs to be passed immediately. I understand that our Professor has a lot of thing to do aside from being an instructor to us, but hey, we are not robots. In some cases, we do not know how are we going to finish a particular task because the Professor himself/herself did not even discuss a thing. Just sending a material and we are good to go.

Sometimes I just wished that this pandemic would end tomorrow, because I really want to go back to normal setting. I still cannot find it easy in online class though I have been in this modality for almost two semester now. It just hits me different, for me it is not good for mental health. Learning online does not mean that we do not think of what is going on outside our house. I am mentally tired with all the tasks and requirements in school and mentally tired of how things going outside our house.
