Our world is full of uncertainty, it is full of twists and turns, ups and downs. But there is something deeper about life — it is to find our purpose behind those dark clouds. Those dark clouds is this unseen enemy and our purpose is to find hope while filling the empty backyard of prosperity and progress.
How can you be happy during like the covid 19 pandemic? How can we teach and share happiness with other people in this trying time? — Five months into the crisis, of struggling, unemployment and starvation. This pandemic has changed the way we live, causing fear, burden, heaving peace and normalcy in the community. Deadly, evil and villainous— this pandemic is truly the greatest thief of all times.
While this pandemic lasts, putting meals on the table is the hardest part in the life of ordinary citizens like us. My father, a van driver, the breadwinner of our family was left nothing but to choose between wanting to be safe and wanting to earn money to provide our needs. But, he had no choice but to abide from what the government says. Five months, he lost his job. Five months, we struggled. It took us five months of patiently waiting for miracles to happen that one day, when we wake up, the deadly virus is gone and everything gets back to normal — employees going to work, students goes to school and people be running their errands like they normally do.
This pandemic has severely upended the economy and the life of many Filipinos especially the breadwinners whose only aim is to provide food on their table. "Anya man ngata sidaenen" "Ngan ngani man maibus tay kwartan" "Awan gayam bagasen", these were the lines I usually hear from my parents and from our neighborhood. Heartbreaking yet we have to face the reality that they are jobless, we are running out of fund and resources, and we aren't well prepared for the home quarantine period. It's just this time that I realized that this quarantine period is only for the rich and privileged. If you are poor, either you die because of the virus for going to work or you die due to hunger for abiding the law. Yet, despite the odds, I am glad that in span of five months, we survive. In span of five months, not even a day that we didn't ate, not even once that we got sick. God is so good. That in this trying time, He never turned His back on us. Instead, He provided our needs in the most silent and simplest ways. Believe me or not, during this war, the only weapon we had is our faith. Prayer really works.
Life has been so tough for all of us but staying with your love ones, spending quality time with them and knowing you are all safe is beyond priceless. I somehow forget that we are in a battlefield. I don't usually see them because normally, they’re at work, and I am at school. Because of quarantine, I had to spend most of my times, finding additional meaning in our lives, I had to spend my time playing and reading a book with my younger cousins, and most importantly, we eat our meals as a family, “pagraramanan jay adda”, as they say.
During this difficult times, we still manage to see the good side of life. We can see how we bounce back after a fall. Despite being challenged, we become bolder and stronger because we believe that not even this pandemic can stumble and pull us down.
The damage of this pandemic is no longer acceptable. Nevertheless, this taught us the value of camaraderie and solidarity. A million thanks to all the leaders, frontliners and all the dedicated people who continue to work for the benefit of humanity all through out the world, for harmonious, wiser and healthier life.
2020 has already been the worst year in the 21st century — a year of life and survival. But what drive us to move forward is our unity, solidarity and compassion within us. May our fear provides us hope for a more fulfilling life and a brighter tomorrow because life is good, after all.
So dont waste every minute. Lets be happy
