Gaming hardware maker Razor has mistakenly kept the personal information of 10,000 gamers open for about a month, according to a new report.
According to a report by technology site Verge, security researcher Volodymyr Diachenko has discovered that customer data has been exposed on the Razr website since August 16 due to incorrect configuration of the server.
Records of customer orders coming to the company's digital store have been exposed due to incorrect configuration. These records contain personal information such as email and delivery address. However, there is no credit card information in this record.
Diachenko said he contacted Razor several times in three weeks after the wrong configuration was found online. In a subsequent statement to Diachenko, Razor acknowledged the incorrect configuration, saying the leaked data could have leaked personal information such as the customer's full name, product delivery address and phone number.
The company added that "no other sensitive data" like the transaction system was leaked and the wrong configuration was corrected on September 9.
Verge also mentioned in the report that while sensitive data such as the transaction system is not leaked, other data can be used to carry out cyber attacks such as phishing attacks.
