The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against five people, including Mohammad Shahed, chairman of Regent Hospital Limited. After the search of the three-member investigation team formed by the ACC, with the approval of the commission, on Wednesday (September 23), the ACC Deputy Director. Farid Ahmed Patwari filed the case as a plaintiff.
Apart from Shahed, the others against whom the case has been filed are: Former Director of the Department of Health (Hospitals and Clinics) Dr. Md. Aminul Hasan, Deputy Director of the Department (Hospital-1) said. Md. Yunus Ali, Assistant Director of the Department (Hospital-1) said. Md. Shafiur Rahman, research officer of the department. Md. Didarul Islam.
The lawsuit alleges that the defendants conspired with each other to gain power unjustly, converting the closed Regent Hospital into a dedicated Covid Hospital without renewing the license through criminal breach of trust, performing Memorandum of Understanding and conducting free tests at Nipasam Lab. The embezzlement of a total of Tk 1,36,8,500 per patient for Rs 3,500 and allocation of food expenses for doctors, nurses, wardboys and other officials for the Regent Hospital highlighted the monthly demand of Tk 1,96,20,000 for health and family. There are allegations of taking initiative to send to the Ministry of Welfare.
For this reason, the case was filed under Section 409/420/109 of the Penal Code as well as Section 5 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947.
