A Story of Success
Nayan is now 22 years old. At this age, established himself as a freelancer, added 200 Bangladeshi and 100 Filipino youths to his company Ecom Solutions. Ecom Solutions pays employees a monthly salary of around 1 crore BDT.
Big Burden on Small Shoulder
Nayan Hasan was born and grow up in Jajira, Shariatpur, Bangladesh. Father Ashmat Akan's occupation was farmer, mother Bilkis Begum worked in a private company. With younger brother Robin and younger sister Achma, they live a very poor life. So Nayan started thinking about family expenses at an early age. He started to teach other while he was in class eight.
Nayan was famous in his area for a reason - because of his interest in technology, Nayan would be sought out whenever someone's smartphone or laptop computer broke down in that area. He used to fix that in a short moment. In 2012, Nayan was an eighth grader and want to learn how to operate a computer. He did a three month computer course at a local training center.
Pathways in training
In 2013, Nayan took five days of free training in a program called 'Learning and Earning' at Jajira. Next year, Nayan learns that a five-day computer course will be held in his Jajira upazila again. This year's topic is freelancing. The subject is unfamiliar to Nayan. After taking the course, Nayan tried to learn more about freelancing. He can't go far due to not owning a computer and slow internet connection in the village.
Nayan came to Dhaka in 2017 after completing high school. He was admitted as an undergraduate in Titumir College, Department of English. The pressure was on Nayan to support the family. He came to Dhaka and started looking for an alternative route.
First Income via Online
Nayan regularly watched freelancing work videos on YouTube. Wanted to be proficient in one subject. While Nayan was living in the mess, Arvind Kumar Roy, an elder brother there, helped him. Nayan wanted to do a web development course for 12 thousand Taka. He got admission in it with the financial support of Arvind.
Nayan used to get first or second position in every subject. Slowly started freelancing. Once he got the first customer. The first job came in 2019. He earns 100 dollars.
Moving Forward
The first customer offered Nayan an online store management job. Nayan agreed. Sitting in Dhaka to handle the online shop alone, he got the responsibility of another shop. The number of 'merchant stores' increased. Without completing the web development course, he got involved in managing the 'Merchant Store' of world famous e-commerce companies Amazon and Walmart. He used to work from answering various questions of foreign customers coming to those shops to taking orders, stock management and product research. As the work grows, two more youths are taught to manage the 'Merchant Store' by him and he took them to his team.
An online merchant store or merchant account is where the detailed information of a website's product list is available. They contain information about who they are selling to and how they are being delivered.
Own Organization
Nayan has provided employment to more than hundred youth of the country. Not only in the country, the youth of the Philippines are also working in Nayan's ecom solutions. They mainly work in communication and customer service with foreign buyers. According to Nayan, 'Since we manage the "merchant store" of international e-commerce sites, we need English speaking staff for communication. Fluency in English is essential for customer service staff.'
Around 300 employees are working from home at Ecom Solutions in Nayan. All are between 20 and 26 years of age. Ecom Solutions pays these employees more than one crore Taka per month. Nayan wants to get an office for ecom solutions in future. He also wants to provide employment for 1000 youth in his company.
