Silent hills, the roar of the sea, Kaltan of Karnafuli, Chittagong with its great splendor of thousands of years of tradition and culture. Sailors from Asia-Europe-Africa have flocked to this city to attract the port, tourists have come to travel, many are stuck with life and livelihood here, have built houses.

The language, culture and way of life of the people of different religions, castes and tribes have enriched the urban life, the invention of diverse cultures has given a special status to the identity of Chittagong. Chittagong also has a distinct tradition as a tourist city. Patenga beach is a popular tourist destination in the port city of Chittagong.

Patenga is located at the mouth of the river Karnafuli, just 14 km south of the zero point of Chittagong city. The cyclone of 1991 caused a lot of damage. Currently, the beauty of the beach has increased a lot due to the maintenance done by the dam. The scratching of the waves at high tide is like a spectacular sight.

The evening sunset at Patenga Beach will make the mind more enchanted. You will get the opportunity to ride a horse for 20 Taka. There are also speedboats or wooden boats or sea-bike rides. Usually in the afternoon the tide starts to come. The dam will sink a lot before the tide starts. The waves will come ashore.

How to get there: If you want to go to Patenga beach from Dhaka, you have to go to Chittagong first.

By Bus Chittagong: AC buses of TR Travels, Desh Travels, Green Line Paribahan, Sohag Paribahan, Saudia Paribahan, Hanif Enterprise go to Chittagong by road from Dhaka. Rent from 950 to 1,250 Taka. Besides, non-standard AC buses of S Alam, Saudia, Unique, Shyamoli, Hanif, Eagle etc. also run on this route. Rent from 450 to 500 Taka.

By Rail Chittagong: On the way from Dhaka to Chittagong, Mahanagar leaves Dhaka at 8:40 am, Chattala Express leaves at 9:20 am, Mahanagar Godhuli leaves Dhaka at 3 pm, Subarna Express leaves Dhaka at 4:20 pm and Turna leaves at 11 pm. Rents range from 135 to 1,093.

By Air Chittagong: From Dhaka, Bangladesh Biman, US Bangla Airlines, Novo Air, Regent Air and United Air fly to Chittagong.

Besides, Chittagong has road connectivity with almost all the districts of the country. You can take the bus of your choice from your city to Chittagong city.

From Chittagong to Patenga: The beach can be easily reached from AK Khan or GEC junction in Chittagong city. C-Beach will drop you off at the beach as soon as you get on the buses. If you want to go by autorickshaw from Chittagong city, you will have to pay 200-250 Taka. It will take an hour.

Other places of interest: On the way to the beach you can see Shah Amanat (R.) International Airport, Naval Base and Chittagong Port Jetty. Since all are close, there is no problem to separate. There is a Burmese market on the beach. You can also go back there and do your shopping.
