Man's Destiny: For Him or Fate To Decide?

Contrary to what most motivational speakers would have you believe about how people have no direction of plans for their lives and future, it's actually a very rare occurrence to find a man who has no plan for his future. Even the lower animals that are closer to humans on the evolution ladder seek to do more than just survive and proliferate as some of these animals have developed some abilities that you would have yourself believe can only be found in humans seeing as we are higher animals.

Regardless of the personality, attitude, nationality, race, talent etc of a person, she usually has a plan for her future, it may not be specific and detailed, but it's there, it exists and will be seeked out when the 'conditions are right' ( or maybe not).

Man

Growing up, from childhood to the teenage years, we gradually get to share in the responsibilities of deciding for ourselves and eventually by the young adult years, we are almost entirely if not entirely responsible for our decisions, hence responsible for deciding the kind of life we want to or do live and the directions we want our destiny to take.

Our parents tell us that what we will become is up to how well we do in school, while some tell us it's how religious or how devoted to "God" we are. The motivational speakers tell us that we are totally in control of our future regardless of everything, our education, our health, our finance etc, they don't matter as long as we can believe in our abilities blah! blah!! blah!!! These are the arguments those of the school of thought that man makes his own destiny have to use.

Fate

What is fate, you may ask? That totally depends on who you're asking. For some, it's simply a hoax, an excuse for the inability of man to actually get that which he truly desires, and for good reasons too, as a lot of those who are of these school are those whim seem to be well to dos and have it quite well in life, not to say they don't deserve it or they didn't earn it, but they are the mean type; just kidding๐Ÿ˜.

Then, there are those who are of the school of thought that fate is a certain higher being or thing or whatever that predertermines and determines everything that happens, hence is in control of the fate of an individual. Basically this people argue that why we scheme and devise here on earth, there's some supernatural being, power or scientific law out there, that has effectively decided our individual and collective destinies, and there's nothing we can really do to change it.

I know it really sounds like an excuse or a pass, especially when it's coming from someone whoight not be successful or a never-do-well, but maybe there's more to it, maybe there's really something or someone out there whom our everyday lives is simply meant to just entertain, no more no less.

A Combination Of Both

Finally there's a third school, the only one that's doesn't have sub groups. This school believes that both the fate and man's own plan and actions are cumulatively responsible for his future, regardless of how worthless or great it might be or turn out to be. In this context, man can not be fully responsible, neither can the powers that are beyond man.

Most holding this view believe that the powers decide what man destiny would be, but through his own decisions and actions or prayers and devotion (depend on whether or not you are religious), man can change, replace and restructure what will come to be his destiny and future. Looking at it that way, you realise it significantly tilts towards the powers been the major player, but still both play a role.

Conclusion

Each and everyone of this school have some 'evidence' to back their stand, so you can't quite rule out any one entirely, or maybe you can, but if you asked me, I would be for the combination of both. I'm not saying that one is the correct one, maybe I pick that one because it will make me feel better about myself and what I've achieved or failed to achieve ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜.

What do you think friends, with whom do you agree? Thanks a lot for reading.

I think some is destiny, you can't change where you were born, or what family you were born into. You make your own luck and destiny though. Great food for thought in this article :)

I think you are absolutely right to argue for a combination of the two.

Personally, I listen to motivational speeches and I agree, that our decisions can determine our future to a large extent, but I also do not rule out the fact, that our destiny is written in some form. I am sure you have heard the expression. "As it is written in the Bible." Excellent article. I loved it.

The third school , combination of both has more effect then others. Not only man himself or fate does alone .
