‘Not everyone needs Honors-Masters-PhD degree’: Education Minister

Time Voice Desk: Education Minister. Dipu Moni said that besides traditional education, the government is also putting a lot of emphasis on technical, vocational education. Honors, Masters and PhD degrees are not required for everyone.

He said this while addressing an online discussion meeting on the occasion of World Youth Skills Day-2020 on Thursday. The Daffodil family and A2I organized a meeting titled 'Are We Ready to Meet the Competitive Challenges of Covid-19 and its aftermath'.

He said there are different types of education system in Bangladesh including madrasa education, technical education, English medium, Qaumi and general education. General education is again divided into two streams. English version and Bengali version. In all streams of education some essential skills have to be acquired. But many times it is noticed that our required skills are not being acquired in our education system. The government is going to formulate a National Qualification Framework for skill development and verification of skills in all streams of education.

The minister said, ‘We are working to establish a link between the student’s dream and his studies. We are arranging the education system in such a way that every student will be able to fulfill his life and livelihood dream, as well as the dream of the state. We are putting a lot of emphasis on technical, vocational and vocational education as well as traditional education. '
