Whenever I was supposed to write something, i used to take a pen and just start writing about the topic. Recently one of my teachers told us that there involves a process in writing. I was quite surprised to hear this. At first, I thought it would be a time wasting thing because we usually have little time in exams to write and if we started following a process which was unusual thing, would definitely not suit us. He taught us the process and then we did an activity, in which he asked us to write a paragraph and apply the process. And to my surprise, the paragraph which I came up with was quite improved one. So, I thought to share it with ya guys!!

Writing:

Writing is actually putting ones thoughts from nowhere to a paper. Broadly speaking, writing is of two types. One is Technical writing; which is straight forward, simple and to the point. Including reports, letters etc. And the other is Academic writing; which is subjective and elaborative. This type of writing is used in comprehension, language learning and critical writing.

Now we will move towards the process of writing.

1. Brain storming/Data collection:

Brain storming is basically thinking process. It involves thinking about relevant points, ideas and data. After taking a little while you have to start gathering arguments and relevant information. Obviously, here data collection in academic writing does not mean that you search it from internet or other sources, you have to use to your memory to show your comprehension. But you can approach these sources in your technical writing.

2. Clustering:

In clustering, we make a map of information we gathered from the thinking process. We clarify the position of certain information in our writing.

3. Free writing:

Free writing involves turning the headings of topic into short sentences or phrases. This step does not require us to focus on spellings, formalities or protocols.

4. Pre-writing:

Pre-writing involves reshaping of free writing. Now here, we have to focus on spellings, grammar and punctuation.

5. Final Draft:

Final draft is meant for presentation. It should be formal and fair to present. Now if we write our pre-writing in a formal way, then we would have no need to rewrite it as a final draft.

6. Revision/Editing:

Last but not the least step is revision. Some students like me just write and do not bother to read it again, which often puts them in trouble. One should read and overview his/her writing and should go for correction of mistakes.

End words:

That was the writing process. We can master everything, the only thing we are required to do is to practice. "Practice makes man perfect". Obviously everyone knows but I just want you people to practice it and I would also be doing so. I hope you enjoyed it. Do comment if this article helped you. Best of luck!!👍
