Dangers and calamities befall human beings at different times. But not all calamities are a punishment; Rather, it is one of the means of testing the faith and patience of the servant. It is not easy to gain acceptance in the court of Allah as a patient servant. That is why Allah has informed the servant through this verse that calamity is not only a torment but it is also a test or means of attaining nearness to Allah. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “Verily, I will test you with some fear and hunger, loss of wealth and loss of life and loss of crops. And give glad tidings to the patient. '(Surat al-Baqara: 155) In the previous verse, Allaah says about the martyrs,' Those who have shown the utmost excellence in patience have succeeded. ' They are worthy of respect. In this verse, Allah has declared to test His servants in various ways. So there is no reason to fear those who attain nearness to Him. The goal of testing the servant is to reveal the results to the people of the world. For example, to protect oneself from haraam and illegal wealth in spite of the need; Not to be restless and fearful during times of hunger and poverty, including fasting. Also to refrain from usury, embezzlement, illegal sale and purchase of wealth and any means contrary to the Shariah to acquire wealth. To be patient in case of loss of property due to natural calamities, theft of goods or loss of life due to fire. Demonstrating patience in the face of life and death due to illness, trauma and retaliation. All this is a test from Allah for the servant. This test can be through the loss of wealth, it can also be through the suffering of hunger and thirst. Even this test can be life threatening. The only way to pass all these difficult tests is to have patience and be satisfied with His decision according to the provisions of Allah. Only then is it possible to attain nearness to Allah and pass the test. May Allah grant the Muslim Ummah the Tawfiq to accept the provisions of the Qur'an in all dangers and calamities.
