The Little Metropolis, formally the Church of St. Eleutherios or Panagia Gorgoepikoos "Panagia Who Grants Requests Quickly", is a Byzantine church located at the Mitropoleos square, next to the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens (the "Great Metropolis"). The church is built on top of the ruins of an ancient temple dedicated to the goddess Eileithyia. Originally dedicated to the Panagia Gorgoepikoos after a miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary housed there, it acquired the name "Little Metropolis" because it was located within the bounds of the residence of the Metropolitan of Athens.
