Binangkal is a pastry similar to doughnut popular in the islands of Visayas and Mindanao in the Philippines. People make binangkal from deep frying dense dough balls coated with sesame seeds, and usually serve with hot chocolate or coffee. The name of this snack is derived from bangkal, the local Cebuano common name for the Leichhardt tree which has spherical flowers and fruits. ❤️
