How do we get from here as Nigerians?

I grew up to youthful age in my dear country of Nigeria and of course, I have some things I can conveniently say about it. Though it's so sad to let this fact out that Nigeria was better in the past than in the present. Back then when I was still in my teens, the value of the Nigerian naira is so good that you could buy many things with it. With one thousand nairas, you could buy foodstuff that can last you for a month. It's alarming considering that the same amount of money can't last you up to a week as now. The economy of this country is fast declining. This standard of living in the past is better than in the present. In the early 1990s, people live well, and on average. There is sufficient food for everyone and you can buy any food with little money. I could remember that a rice bag isn't so expensive back then. Now, there is a hyper rise in the price of goods and services that makes up the Nigerian economy.

Talking about security, The security of the nation is so unreliable that you don't know what can happen at the next minute. Nigeria as of now is not safe anymore as there have been lots of terror being unleashed daily by terrorists and bandits. You hear the terrible news of bomb blasts, killings for rituals, and other atrocities on different social media platforms. Just recently, there was a killing of people in cold blood at a church in Ondo state, Nigeria. Unlike before when you can go anywhere at any time because you believed in peace that was present then unlike now. Living in Nigeria is like living in hell because of unfavorable conditions. Sometimes I can't help but wonder how we get here.

If we are to check the root causes of all of Nigeria's problems then we discover that the government has much of the blame to accept. If it's not true how could bandits and terrorists thrive in the country if not that the government of the country is "incapable". Many lives have been lost due to unnecessary havoc being unleashed upon innocent Nigerians by terrorists and bandits. Many youths only have the hope of getting enough funds to relocate out of the country. No employment, no peace of mind. Even the bad roads have caused many deaths and it's still causing deaths. The government has deserted the citizens a long time ago. They are only after their pockets and how to loot the national cake. The situation of the educational system is nothing to talk about. For more than three months now students are at home due to industrial strikes by academic workers over unpaid monies and others.

I just hope as the election period is gradually near us, we should do everything to vote out bad leaders and embrace the new dawn. Most of Nigeria's problems could be solved if we have a good leadership structure. It's not easy to thrive under a bad government. We want to have a good time in our country, not living like prisoners ready for slaughter at any time in the nation. The future of Nigeria is in our hands and we must do everything to make our country a haven for all and sundry.
