The reasons why children talk late

The number of children around us is increasing at an alarming rate these days who are not speaking properly compared to their age. Maybe saying but the amount of vocabulary the child is using may be limited compared to his age. Or what he is saying most of the time seems to be that nothing meaningful is happening.

In the case of many of these children, the parents are taking the matter lightly. Some of them are thinking that this condition of the child may be due to watching more tabs / mobiles. Many people think that maybe the lack of people to talk to the child at home all day!

Again similarly, another group of parents is seen to be extra serious about this. They are taking the child to different child development centers. Especially to check if the child has autism!

Today's article is written for the purpose of creating awareness so that many parents can easily understand this difficult matter.

Through this article, I would like to reassure the parents who think that talking late is a sign of autism and I want to warn those who do not take late talking at all!

In the lens of autism we will try to understand the whole thing.

A child with autism and a child with a mental disability - it is our natural tendency to combine the two. Although it is not uncommon for a child to have two problems at the same time, there are obvious differences in the symptoms and manifestations of these two problems in thick spots.

Is intelligence a little less, more or normal - the main concern with children with autism but not there. Talking less or not talking is not their 'only' problem! So where is the problem? Their main problem is 'social development'.

Maybe it sounds a little like that.

We talk less about the fact that children grow not only physically, but also mentally. In fact, it is an important domain to grow mentally. As a child grows up, he learns to interact socially.

Autism is a disorder that is affecting more and more children during their neurodevelopmental period, which in turn affects their ability to interact socially, and sadly, it lasts a lifetime. Exactly why science has done that has not been confirmed yet.

We communicate with each other only 6% of the time (meaning verbally), the remaining 93% but we do it through different gestures (non verbal communication). (While there is some controversy over the percentage of verbal and non-verbal communication, there is no disagreement that non-verbal matters are a very important factor for interaction.)

Don't look at it in the same way, without saying much, only in the language of the eyes do we explain something to the people in front of us! If we didn't understand these non verbal social queues, we would be completely useless! Children with autism are more likely to suffer from this condition.

# The following example may be useful to understand the matter a little easier-

For example, if you have another object in front of a child with autism, that child's attention will be on the object. Because his brain is made in such a way that he does not know how to connect with you through words, behaviors or expressions! He is completely absorbed in that object. His attention is on the object. His brain does not have the ability to understand that the man in front is also funny.

They have a different world of thought which is different from ours. You may be in pain and say 'Oops', a normal development baby's face will show a Maya / Concern for you. The chances are very high that you will not see any such expression on the face of a child with autism. You see, in the meantime, it may be seen that the child may laugh! It means that they can express their emotions by doing something apparently inappropriate. Meanwhile, I or you may think the child is definitely cruel or a madman or a fool!

Let's see if the child speaks late and we will try to find out the minimum things very well:

Specifically, our parents need to know if there are any issues with the baby at 12 months of age, or if it was at 12 months for older children.

A normal 12-month-old baby will look you in the eye. You will be interested in that look, you will be curious if you are a new person. In other words, the look that the child is looking at will have quality. This eye contact is an important marker to understand whether the child's social development is going well. (But not the only marker that emphasizes it and avoids others)

There are 1000 people in a room. You are too. If someone calls your name from a distance, you will immediately look back. That's the decent thing to do, and it should end there. It is not a good sign if you see a child with normal hearing ability who has passed 12 months of age but does not respond to his name or does not look back. From the age of 6 months, there is an orientation about the name of the baby.

The child will want to show you his 'favorite' thing by pointing it with one finger, it could be a bird flying in the sky or a red tuk-tuk car on the road or a meowing cat. We call this pointing. Find out how it sounds and know, it is also a very important social marker that comes in 1 year.

The child learns to give.

At the same time shows a tendency to imitate others. I mean, the mother is combing her hair, you will see that the child may try to do the same.

When he gets a little older, notice his game. Does his car fly in the sky, does he talk to the dolls, who feeds the dolls or puts them to sleep? That is, the things that we do in our daily lives are observed by a child and manifested in their own play as they grow up. Be careful not to see your child play such imaginary games. Such Imaginative Capability may be severely restricted in children with autism.

**Does sound, light or any other stimulation of sensory make him differently sensitive? Frequent stomach problems, whether diarrhea or constipation?

Children may have additional interest in objects of a certain texture. The child wants to catch it again and again. On the contrary, the particular texture may be unbearable! For example, the child sits on the toilet day after day because he can not take the texture of the stool!

**Check if any of his rituals catch your eye. For example, maybe one car after another lined up and just sorted and sorted. One day, if you want to do something a little different, he reacts terribly. He reacts terribly or something like that if he doesn't go down the road that leads to his grandfather's house.

āĻ•āĻ°ā§āĻ¨Note for a slightly different gesture that the child may repeat over and over again. It can be words, expressions, or behaviors.

That means remembering that the child's expressive language is not the real thing. When you see a child talking on one side or the other, don't just read about it, pay attention to other things that I have said.

Usually a child comes to the doctor with the above symptoms in one type of combination. The fact that there are so many small things in a child that can cause such a huge problem as autism does not suit us because just as we become accustomed to breathing, a healthy child is born, growing up is the same for us. Extremely natural! A healthy baby is a blessing from God.

You can take the above mentioned topics as a warning sign. Do not reach the diagnosis on your own. I have mentioned very gross issues in this article.

So if there is any doubt about a child, whether he has autism or not, the assessment should be done in time. There is no alternative. We are in such a hurry that the sooner the child can be brought under Early Intervention, the more likely we are to be optimistic. You can go to the nearest child development center for this work. Or you can go to an autism specialist or trained professional who has knowledge about this.

Fear of people, in fact, if 'autism' is caught in the fear that many parents are chickens. And that's why it's too late! The older the child gets, the harder it is to work with the brain. Awareness of all of us is very important in this case so that we can stand by the side of such parents as courage, not as a barrier.

Briefly, there is no autism but lagging behind in terms of language awareness in our normal children.

Possession of a child's language is a combination of two things - 'language comprehension' (which in the language of early childhood development we call the child's receptive language) and 'language speaking' (which is called expressive language). The language is directly involved with the child's intellect, but directly! So if you see a normal child struggling in these two domains, you have to take it to a specialist. You have to work intensively on the laguage delay of the child.

Regular reading of story books, encouragement to answer open ended questions (questions that cannot be answered yes or no), stimulation by understanding the steps, first identification of the object and then from small to large instructions - in many ways understanding the child's language and Who can be inspired.

Let's be aware of our child's autism. Make others aware too. I don't leave the children who are a little behind in normal development.

Before celebrating your child's birthday every year, make sure that the neurodevelopmental assistance is needed according to his age. That may make the child's life truly festive.
