‘Above all man is truth, not above him’. Baru Chandidas, a medieval Bengali poet, uttered the greatest human message in human history.
When the whole world is in a frenzy of violence, blood is flowing from the soft body of the earth, then one of the poets of this Bengal recited the immortal poem of humanity to the world.
We are his inheritance. We inherit from ‘Charyapad’ to ‘Gitanjali’.
We are the legacy of the struggling life of the people who have been living on the shores of Padma, Ganges and Bay of Bengal for thousands of years. He is an indivisible human life. That life is labor and joy. Peace and harmony. Consists of a combination of nature and the old.
The culture of that life always sings the triumph of love. Sing the triumph of life. Throughout the ages, songs of equality have been sung for the welfare of human beings. Culture became the main regulator of human life and nation building irrespective of race and religion. Communal and communal thinking is extinct in the face of language and cultural nationalism emanating from human life. Linguistic nationalism does not allow religious divisions. And so this non-communal nationalism is very humane and peaceful.
Nationalism develops on the strength of non-communal consciousness in indigenous culture and language. In the course of this development there is a variety of trees, forests, enchanting sky of the seasons, thousands of aquatic animals of hundreds of rivers and the way of life of the working peasants, anecdotes. There are Wari-Bateshwar, Pundra, Paharpur. There is a unique style of Kantji temple and sixty domes. Bengali nationalism based on the language and culture of the people associated with history-tradition and nature is therefore naturally omnivorous.
The natural rotation of the world and the life cycle, the human civilization in its synthesis, that civilization has brought the caveman to the search for a new life of free man. The new addition to this line of exploration is Bengali nationalism. History testifies that the Bengalis had their own territory, but not an autonomous country. There was no state. The first independent kingdom of Bengal emerged in 525 AD. Which was founded by a Bengali king Gop Chandra. He was the first Bengali king to establish a kingdom of Bengalis. The rule of Gop Chandra's dynasty lasted for 65 years. Until 600 AD. Then King Shashanka emerged. But none of them were Bengalis. Not Sen or Palra. But the first independent kingdom of Bengal of King Gop Chandra was an empire. There was no republic. Bengalis first met the republic in 1971 through the Great War of Liberation. The dream of a thousand years is to sacrifice the lives of 3 million people through the bloody war of liberation in 1971 under the leadership of Bangabandhu's own independent state Bangabandhu. But he is talking about recent times.
Even before that, various events have taken place for hundreds of years, which are important functional elements of nation buildingThe sharp poem of the medieval poet Abdul Hakim, ‘He who is born in Bengal, is jealous of Bangabani / I do not know whose birth it is’ tells us that our language and culture have evolved in the midst of a difficult struggle. The seeds of communalism were sown in our culture through the British conspiracy to partition Bengal in 1905 and the movement to abolish the partition of Bengal. Rabindranath Tagore, the poet himself, led the movement for the abolition of partition. The poet composed all the immortal songs including the main song of the Bengali nation ‘Amar Sonar Bangla I Love You’. In spite of all the animosities in that education, this nation has maintained its non-communal, secular character. However, the machinations of the British rulers divided the nation on the basis of communalism and the people of India and Bangladesh, torn apart by the poison of communalism, made a historic mistake in a momentary delusion. In 1947, a vain state of Pakistan was created.
But the Bengalis came out of their delusion and started the historic language movement in 1947 just seven months after the creation of Pakistan. The new attempt to build a nationhood that began with the bloody movement of 1952 is the ultimate form of the millennial struggle and tradition of the Bengalis. The subsequent history is the history of gaining independence through the Bengali nationalist movement. That history is bloody, but the history of the success of the establishment of an independent republic through the liberation war of 1971. This is the first time that a Bengali has become the owner of a republic in its thousand year history. And this republic is a secular secular democratic Bangladesh with equal rights for all people. This is not the first time the ruler has decided to run the state in the language of the Brahmins.
The constitution was written in Bengali. During the abolition of the Partition of Bengal in 1905-1906 and the Swadeshi movement, we first heard the sound of our soul chanting 'Joy Bangla'. An indestructible utterance of secularism. The song 'Amar Sonar Bangla ...' composed in 1905The national anthem of independent state Bangladesh and 'Joy Bangla' is our national slogan. When post-liberation Bangladesh is trying to overcome all obstacles and bring down a modern human state, the defeated communal forces, the enemies of humanity, have resorted to new conspiracies to destroy all the achievements of this new state. By conducting militant activities, it wants to make Bangladesh as bloody as it was in 1971. The fanatical communal fundamentalist forces are trying to establish a reign of terror in the whole country by misinterpreting religion. By calling various cultural media as anti-Islamic, the Bengalis are trying to block the way forward for the establishment of a modern state.
The sculptor, who is the same age as human history, is being destroyed by calling it an idol. Abhaman is involved in a conspiracy to destroy communal harmony by marking the New Year celebrations and Mars procession in Bengal as anti-Islamic. People of other religions want to divide the society by instilling fear in their minds. They are determined to create a medieval atmosphere throughout the country. But we can't let that happen. We freedom fighters have liberated the country at the risk of our lives. I will protect the independence of secular Bangladesh with my life. And a new generation of people will lead this fight.
So I say this Bengali on the eve of Baran 1424 BS:
O young man, O new generation of people, never erase from your mind the glory that you have a rich past. There is a colorful history and tradition. There is a desire to be a world human being irrespective of all religions, castes and races. You have Lalon, Rabindra, Nazrul. You are the inheritors of Nooruddin and Surya Sen-Pritilata. You are the legacy of Maulana Bhasani, Mani Singh and Bangabandhu. The great age has placed all power in your hands. Get up. Shred the violent claws of anti-Bengali culture fundamentalism.
Thank you everyone....
