there was a time when I was really into making patterns,’ comments raku inoue on his behance page. ‘at that time, I was mainly using digital applications such as adobe illustrator and/or photoshop as tools so today, I thought about revisiting my love of motifs. as inspiration, I have selected 9 iconic motifs of the fashion world which I made my own reinterpretation of.’
from louis vuitton to fendi, dior and versace, the natura patterns by rake inoue showcase delicacy, detail and craftsmanship. flowers and petals have been arranged to recreate fashion brand’s logos over plain-colored backgrounds, enhancing the beauty of each flower, of each leaf and of every color and form. patterns or motif are common in fashion, giving the maison a distinctive sign to be recognized. they are actually so strong, that even here, each brand is completely recognizable.
growing up, I was very much influenced by both cultures (japan and canada) so that folding origamis and painting graffitis never felt too disconnected from each other,’ concludes raku inoue. ‘curious by nature, I have experimented with multiple ways of expressing art: sculpting, drawing, painting and capturing photographs to name a few. in the past, my work has often been based on polymer clay, digital photography and photoshop. although presently, I am largely inspired by nature, it’s beauty and everything that it has to offer in form of raw materials.’
