Hellow friend,
Hope everybody is well. I am also well by the infinite grace of the Creator. Today I have brought something new among you and that is the street child of our country.
Street children live a very helpless life in our country. It goes without saying there is no one to help them. They eat food in the dustbin most of the time. Most street children are seen in the town. They can be seen in different places while walking on the road. We should provide proper food, clothing and shelter to the street children. If we all move forward together, the street children will no longer be helpless.
So let's start...
The word child is mixed with love, caress and affection. But when children are called street children, tokai, street boy, etc., it hits the chest. Why call a child a street child? Is that why he is on the street? Then I ask again, why would a child be on the street? I know there is no acceptable answer. Even then the number of street children in our country is increasing day by day. In fact, at the root of it is ignorance, poverty, lack of education and awareness. A class of uneducated and poor people give birth to children unplanned and abandon them after a certain period of time. Thus the number of neglected street children continues to increase. These parents beat their children to earn a living. From then on their neglected life of misery began.
In fact, human humanity and humanity is declining day by day. As a result, the number of street children is also increasing. Does it ever move our conscience? What is the future of the little kids today who sell magazines on the street, sell flowers or ask for money to eat? At the age when they should have books, plastic bags in their hands. On the streets they find plastic. What a cruel painful scene!
According to the 2015 census, the number of street children in Bangladesh was 1 million, of which more than 2.5 million were in the capital. At present there is no specific information about the number of street children in Bangladesh. Someone said 21 lakh. Again someone said 24 lakh. However, 50,000 of these children are literally on the streets.
A study by the Ministry of Social Welfare found that 51 per cent of street children were 'victims of obscene language'. 20 percent are physically abused. Girls are the most sexually harassed. 14.5% of street children are sexually abused. And 48 percent of female street children are victims of sexual abuse.
An NGO called Local Education and Economic Development (LIDO) is working with Path children. According to the agency, some of the street children became addicted to drugs and died on the streets. Some are trafficked through various cycles. Those who are trafficked are sold their organs. They are victims of various kinds of torture. Those girls, they are victims of sexual abuse. Some gangs force them to be sex workers. In addition, criminal gangs use them in various illegal businesses, including drugs.
They are not actually criminals. They are victims of crime. Political parties also use them for various purposes.
According to a report by the Social and Economic Enhancement Program (SIP), about 44 percent of street children are addicted to drugs, 41 percent have no bed, 40 percent cannot take a bath, 35 percent defecate in the open, and 54 percentThere is no one to see if they are sick and 75 percent of children cannot contact a doctor when they are sick. According to the same study, 34.4 percent of children stay in a certain place for a maximum of six months. Of these, 29 percent were relocated due to law enforcement agencies and 33 percent due to guards. Even after sleeping under the open sky, 56 percent of the children have to pay 150 to 200 rupees a month to the bullies. They are also victims of police torture and arrest. It is known that a large part of the street children come from poor families. Poverty is the root cause. Polygamy is also a factor. It is associated with river erosion, landlessness, climate change.
If we think with a little healthy brain, in fact the life of these street children is very complicated. They have to live with people much older than themselves. Begging is also to be done. And from the risky environment they collect various things for sale. They are affected by various diseases. 25-30 percent of street children are girls. They are at the highest risk.
Recent studies have shown that 82% of street children suffer from various stomach ailments. Needless to say, eating unhealthy foods is responsible for this disease. In addition, due to the dirty environment, the rate of skin diseases is much higher among them, as there is no treatment system. Eighty-one percent of these floating children suffer from some form of skin disease. The prevalence of various infectious diseases among street children is also relatively high.
Many non-governmental organizations work with street children all over the country including Dhaka. Someone gives food. Someone gives clothes. Someone gives education. Someone also arranges for their entertainment. But at the end of the day they have to go back on their way. There is not much initiative to fully rehabilitate them. There are many private and private initiatives in the city for these street children. There are also some government initiatives. But no initiative is sustainable. It's like putting ointment on a wound. In fact, they need permanent rehabilitation. Family attachment. The government has to think about how to do that. Bringing them back to the mainstream is the real work. They need to be provided with education, permanent accommodation and food. If they stay where they are, there is no gain.
Because they have to be taken home from the path. They are now making the path their home. But the thing we need to give the most importance to is the accommodation. If these kids don't go through any guidelines, their future is in the dark. Now it is seen that even with the family, the boys and girls go astray. I don't think there is any point in misleading these boys and girls on the streets.
Therefore, they should be given the opportunity to live and study like other children, whether with the help of the government or with the help of the private sector. Therefore, any name called Pathashishu will not be associated with the child. The word Tokai will be erased from the country. The child will be the same as the child. But if the address of the street child remains the same, then there will be nothing in the love shown to people for these children. You take responsibility for a child without giving people the service of showing a hundred children. As if that child grows up to become a doctor and an engineer. In this way, if every organization takes full responsibility for the street children without providing them with temporary services and food, then at least some children will be transformed into the wealth of the country.
Finally, we can do whatever we want. But we don't think that way. We spend time with street children on their birthdays and show people on Facebook. But I don't turn some street children into children. I can if I want. So let's leave the love shown to people and think about the future of these children.
